I am going to get married in Jan 09. I am not living in the USA, but I will fly in to buy my dress in NYC, since I have to come anyway to organize other wedding stuff.
The dresses in USA are more affordable and more beautiful than in my own country.
The question is: what is the latest if I want to order a dress (and not off the rack) and have enough time to do the alterations?

davids bridal's comes in like 4 months.....mine came in around 1 1/2 - 2 months

I did a rush ship on my dress...which is usually $150 but they waived it bc I ordered before the new year (they offered me other discounts as well)
Anyway...it is a total scam and lie when salons tell you it takes 10-12 months to order a dress! They a) want your money so they can make interest on it...they won't even place your dress order for another few months and b) they want the sale! If the tell u 'oh no need to order yet' u will continue to shop around or try to find the dress cheaper elsewhere. They know this so they tell u lies and more lies just to make the sale! Its so ridiculous! Think about it...is your dress really sitting in a factory and taking hundreds of days to make NO!!! It probably only takes an hour...not even!!!

Thank you for assuring me. I was a little stressed out after visiting a bridal store. I was already wondering, but now I understand. It's true you are going to shop around and they don't want to loose the sale. Thanks for calming me down. Big big
