What is the sweetest thing FH has every done for you?

Original post by enjft

Yesterday I had an awful day as most of you guys know. He didnt go to class and came home, made dinner, did Xavier's HW, and rented a movie. It was such a small gesture with such a big impact.

What's your story?

There are may things FH has done which are sweet. One ofmy favorites is how I get flowers on a random basis once a month for no reason. He has booked a few romantic weekends for us because time together is limited. I think the sweetest though.....
Before we got engaged he asked my Grandfather's permission becuase he knows how close I am with him. To me that is better than any gifts or flowers.

FI has done so many sweet things that I am not even sure where to start. I guess the sweetest of them all is when my dad had to have a brain operation and was in the hospital for a month. FI came every night and brought me dinner. It was a horrible time for me and my family so the support from FI (and his family) was wonderful.

ok, its really long.

Just about 2.5 years into the relationship, we were at different colleges, about 3 hours apart. I was also about 3 hours from home.

I found myself struck with severe abdominal pain...so bad, i went to the health center. Of course they assumed I was preggers (because I was 19 and in college ), but after some tests, they determined that it was probably just a stomach virus. They sent me home, and they were closing up. They told me that if it got any worse, to go to the hospital.

Well it DID get worse, in the middle of the night. I couldn't sleep, it hurt SO badly. I called Rich and was crying that i was so uncomfortable....he told me to lay down, relax, and try to sleep. 2.5 hours later (yeah, he totally sped ), my phone rang....he was downstairs, waiting to take me to the hospital.

Once we got to the ER, they determined that it was a stomach issue - but a 'female issue' They did a series of embarassing tests (internal sonograms, etc)....and it was a teaching hospital, so I had about 8 people staring at my va-jay-jay. They told us the scariest thing - it was possibly an ectopic pregnancy...Even though I know Rich was trying to figure out how he was going to face my parents, he sat next to me, held my hand through everything

They doped me up on morphine for the pain - but I had to pee SOOO badly from all the water they made me drink for the external sono....I couldn't even walk to the bathroom. Rich CARRIED ME, and held me (I don't touch public toilet seats ).

It was determined that I had 2 or more ruptured ovarian cysts. Anyone that's been through it knows the pain. No pregnancy, thank goodness. I was 19, and scared.

They had given me the morphine on an empty stomach...then sent me home (once they knew the diagnosis). I was soooo sick the way home - we stopped on the side of the road to puke, and of course, Rich was right there, holding my hair back.

The next day, I passed out in the shower due to dehydration. He force-fed me soup and powerade and crackers, and he was totally my hero.

What a MAN!!!!!!! You are so lucky to have him!!!! He sounds like the greatest man in the world!!!
XOXOXOXO

My FH has done so many sweet things. One sweet thing that really meant alot to me was back in 2002 when my grandmother died. We were both working in Manhattan, FH on 42nd St. and I was working on 50th St. My grandmother had passed away, and nobody in my family could get in touch with me, because I was out for lunch. So, my brother calls my FH, and tells him that he has to get in touch with me to tell me that my grandmother died (it was not expected at all she was not sick or anything). My brother asked FH to tell me. Now FH is so scared to tell me, but he calls me at work, and he's like 'babe I don't know how to tell you this but your grandmother died,' and I screamed so loud at work. I hung up the phone and ran to the bathroom crying. I immediately gathered up my stuff to leave, and when I walked outside to go to the train station my FH was standing outside my job waiting ffor me to walk me to the train, and calm me down. He literally was in front of my job in a matter of seconds. That really meant alot to me.

Oh my god - I TOTALLY know that pain well!! I had the same problem (although we weren't 3 hours apart at the time) but almost the exact same thing happened to me and it was fathers day weekend and my parents were really angry with me for whatever weekend and refused to go to the hospital with me I wasn't feeling well and FH stayed with me at the hospital for the entire time. The only problem was I had another ruptured cyst only 3 days later and wound up back in the hospital AGAIN and he missed a whole bunch of finals just to be with me! I love him!

Re: What is the sweetest thing FH has every done for you?

My FH has done too many sweet things to even count, but the nicest thing sticks out pretty vividly (although it was only last month or so)....
My mom (who I am very close with) moved to Florida last summer (my sister lives there as well) and I was devastated. I've been down to visit her a lot, but it's obviously not the same as having her here and able to see everyday. My sister just recently had a baby (first grandchild in the family so she's obviously treated like a princess) which makes it even harder to be away from them. We had gone down to Florida in early January to see the baby for the first time and I could not stop crying on the dayI had to leave. FH didn't know what to do,with me but was so great for the entire ride home. I was crying so hard that the poor flight attendants thought that I had been coming from a funeral (or something similar) and treated us like we were Royalty. Which was nice, but pathetic on my part :) For my birthday this year (early feb.) my FH called my mom and arranged an entire extended weekend with her down in florida. I started crying when he surprised me with the plane tickets and couldn't stop thanking him. It was the best surprise I have even been given. It had only been a month since I had seen her, but a month had been too long!
We're going down again in the end of April and I'm counting down the days! This time I knew about the trip though

Darren has done soooo many wondefful things for me. But the one thing that stands out is when I just got my new apartment and my new job. A half a year later, I was told my services were no longer needed(without explanation) and I had NO WAY to pay my rent. I loved that apartment soooooooo freakin much. Well needless to say Darren payed my rent for many many months as I worked odd jobs here and there , and took care of me and my son Lucas the whole time. Soo much love and support happenin over here, it's not even funny, and thats just one of em!!! I adore him endlessly.

The day my grandmother died he stayed with me the whole entire time - cried with me- hugged me- just really took good care of me for something that was so unexpected and was even about to pay for my plane ticket ($1500) to fly there to go to her funeral and be with my mom.

Re: What is the sweetest thing FH has every done for you?

the latest thing he did...I couldn't believe it.

First some background: I had to put my kitty kat to sleep back in november and it was a real tough time for me, and still is, I miss her alot and keep thinking when I go home she will be there waiting. She was my little girl .

ok, so about a month ago, we were in his bedroom and on the night stand was a picture of my kitty kat in a little cat frame! I was like 'babe, you put this here?' and he said yes, that he knows how much she means to me so he put it on his night stand for me to see.

I immediately started tearing and gave him a huge hug and lots and lots of kisses.

Hes not even a cat person! But he did that for me! That goes in the record books!
