Re: what is ur cake!

Our wedding cake will be a yellow cake with chocolate pudding and vanilla custard inside and buttercream icing with silk leafs for decoration. The leafs will be taken off when the cake is served. We thought about fondant but I heard that it is too sweet and alot of people do not like the taste of it.

mmmmmmm, gotta love a culture like that

here's the blurry dark cell phone pic of a sample of our (fondant) cake... ours will have different colors (ivory, white, tiffany blue, and celery green)

it will be a chocolate cake with mocha and chocolate mousse filling....

we didn't want whipped cream, becuase they added something (gelatin?) to stabilize it, and it tasted a bit off to us.... Buttercream would make a lot of icing in total... and it can be overwhelming...

so fondant it is... we like the polished look, and figure it's easy to peel off if you don't like the taste...

Re: what is ur cake!

I havent picked mine yet, i have a few ideas...BTW with the fondant thing, most of it does taste bad but some bakers can actually make it delicious, i think some use marshmellow mixed with it and it comes out great...I had fondant cupcakes and the fondant was the best part. This is usually when they actually make their own fondant, instead of purchasing it from elsewhere, which is what most of them do.

For the designs i want, i have to do fondant...but for those concerned about taste and this will also lower the cost of the cake...you make the tier you cut real cake but the rest theres no cake in it, just models...and the rest of the cake that gets served you order sheetcake of it and thats what they serve, your guests wont even know. This is good considering average price of fondant cake is $6-8 per person and can get alot more expensive than that

For ppl using whipped cream, if its summer or chances it might be hott, make sure it stays in a cool place bc it will seriously melt right away.

hmmm this isnt exactly what i plan on getting, for some reason cant find pics of what i do want, but heres a few ideas

Re: what is ur cake!

Its actually going to be fondant OVER buttercream, so you still get the great taste of buttercream AND the smooth polished look of fondant.
