What is wrong with people!!!!

First my boss gave me issues with taking off for my honeymoon. It is at a quarter end and he had the nerve to tell me that I should have planned my wedding around work. I told him that my life (unlike his) does not revolve around work and that I planned my wedding when I WANTED to have it, and he will just have to deal with it. Then he started b*tching cause I wanted to take a total of 12 days off. 3 days before the wedding to get ready and then the week off for the honeymoon and 2 days to rest, relax when I got back. After much arguing i am taking 9 days off and working from home the last two days of my vaca to appease him. My flight gets in at midnight on Oct 5th and he is making me work on Oct 6 (from home, but still). Why cant people just let you be happy and take the time you need. Trust me, I am not needed to work those days, he just doesnt ever let anyone take off without a fight.

Now FH is having trouble taking off. He put in for the days and they asked for proof that he is going away, which he provided and now they said we 'will see'. UM yeah you will cause no matter what you decide HE IS GOING ON HIS HONEYMOON. He has the vacation days I do not understand why its a fight to take them

it is so sad that people are so miserable in their own lives that they just don't want people to be happy. So instead of fixing their problems they hold others back. UGH!! I am sorry you have to deal with this.

I hate when employers say 'no' or 'maybe' to vacation time when obviously they're going to give it to you in the end. Seriously, why pull that sort of weight just to stress someone out?? Passive aggressive jelous people suck!!

What an a$$!! Sweety there are miserable people out there.. I had to learn the hard way!! Especially when it comes to work.. Some people live to work.. People like us work to live!!

FH had the same issue with taking off for our HM! It s*cks! He put in for the time a YEAR in advance. Then in January, we had to provide all kinds of proof that we are going away - airline tickets, etc. No mention of the fact that the person knows our wedding date and is a 'friend' of my mother's and actually asked my mother if she was being invited to the wedding!!!! I hate people!

I agree ladies its ridiculous.. but i told my boss about this a YEAR in advance so everytime he brings it up I tell him flat out you got a years notice, deal with it. I just dont get how they want to cause you more anxiety with all this wedding planning. My boss is ok now considering I promised to work from home (which s*cks but what can you do)

We both accrue the vacation time it should not be so hard to take it.

Sometimes I feel so guilty for taking ONE SICK DAY--it ends up turning into a mountain instead of just staying a molehill. This is why I purposely scheduled my wedding for July. . .because I know that I would get crap for taking off. They went through this whole thing yesterday at our faculty meeting about people being docked pay for taking more personal days than we're allotted each year. I work with a guy whose wife had complications with the first baby they had a few years ago. . .he took all of his personal days that week, then took two of the sick days he had banked. Well, they decided to DOCK HIM FOR THE TWO SICK DAYS. They are SICK DAYS!!!!

That is insane. And to ask for proof?! What the hell is that?? So sorry to hear that you have to deal with such nonsense.

I am too paranoid to let someone else do an end-of-month process I always take care of so I want to make sure to not schedule my HM for then (we're not booked yet). BUT if I didn't have a choice, then I'd just train someone! And my bosses KNOW that they can't give me grief over it - HM trumps work! IMO hehe
