Everyone in my office knows I am deathly afraid of flying so much so that I am going to have to take something, so what does this stupid jerk from my office do (which by the way I invited my whole office to my wedding) he comes up to me and is like you are taking Jet Blue right? Here and gives me an article about how a plane that took off today from JFK had to go back b/c the piolit smelled smoke so now I am sitting here crying freaking out, why would someone do that?

That guys a JERK!!!
Think about it this way (this is how I look at things because I DO NOT enjoy flying). How often to do we really hear of something horrible happening to a plane? Not very often... and lately the worst stories are those where the plane sits on the runway full of passengers for 8+ hours. I know they are only words to you and won't make you feel better, but you will be fine... ignore the idiots at work who are trying to get a rise out of you and focus on the destination....

think of it this way- at least they took the precaution rather than not.
That guy is an arse for showing you that.
Also, remember and repeat to yourself- it is safer than being in a car. And think about how often you are in a car!!!
You will be fine!!! But maybe take something to make you fall asleep.

Did he think he was being 'informative' or 'funny'? Either way, he's an a$$...that was just mean. If you are that nervous, I'm sure your doctor would give you a mild sedative to help you relax. Try not to worry too much. Chances are, you're more likely to be delayed than have something happen to the plane.
