Drmdblnd - Carrabas is coming to smithtown on 347 next year. Not sure if you are close to that area or know of it coming to long island. My parents like to dine there in Fla and they had asked and that is what they told them.

Vincent's - Carle Place - italian Yuki Palette - Westbury - Japanese Bennihana's - The Source - Habachi Kitchen Kabret (sp?) - Glen Cove - gormet deli Cheesecake Factory - The Source - american East Buffet - Huntington (by The Walt Whitman Mall) - Chinese Buffet
That's pretty much where we go.
ETA: Oh yeah... and... On the Border - ??? Can't remember - Mexican

Shiro (Westbury) - Japanese PF Chang's (Westbury) Chinese Outback Steakhouse (Westbury or Merrick)
I'm not from around here, so I don't really know about LOCAL places.

My favorites are Momma Lombardi's in Holbrook, Saviano's in Bohemia, and a Thai place in Bayport, I can't remember the name if it, it is in the 7-11, CVS shopping center on Montauk Highway.

Il Miradoro- Port Jefferson (great family style Italian food for good prices) Cheescake Factory- (I love the three cheese pasta and the chocolate cake!) Ruby Tuesdays- (FI and I order from their To-Go menu all the time, you don't even have to get out of your car)

2nd Time around - I went to a wedding at The Country House - BEST food i ever had!!!
Awesome food, just really expensive, really tight seating and very crowded....

Okey Dokey's in Patchogue 2 fers on house wines and draft beers from 3-7 then again from 10-closing then half price appetizers from 3-5. Wednesday 2 fers ALL DAY! And a huge menu.
Patrick and I met and got engaged there. (Not on the same day, of course! )

We don't go out to eat much but for a nice night out we like Meson Ole and a little hole in the wall called Mulberry's on Howells Road in Bay Shore.
For a cheaper night out, Bennigan's.

Pfiff On Grand and Thompson in SoHo Best service, best food, best watermelon martinis that they make fresh in front of you and the owner is so sweet!
