What kind of flowers do I get?

I have an appointment w/our potential florist in a few weeks. I know we want high centerpieces and arrangements throughout the ailes but it could cost alot of money. I'm guessing roses are more expensive than other types of flowers, but I could be wrong. Are there really beautiful flowers that are not as expensive?

I'm not really familiar with which type of flowers are less expensive, but you should check out Burton's in Melville. They give you a great price that includes ANY type of flower.

Tall centerpieces will be more expensive, but you might be able to get 'in season' stuff....just an idea

We used Burtons and had all roses in our bouquets and they gave us a great price.

I personally love Gerber daisies they are soo beautiful and they come in many colors. It depends on what time of the year for the cost of roses. good luck!!

Jess2, you can look through bridal magazines and get ideas on what you like. There are also websites you can check out.

Believe it or not, but roses are not the most expensive. I thought that when I first started to look at florists. If your looking for a wide array of colors then roses are the way to go, they come in so many colors. I am using peonies with some roses for bouquets and centerpieces. I heard Burtons is very reasonable, they wouldn't do my wedding since I am getting married too far away.

I've heard good things about Burtons but I can't use them, I have to use a florist recommended by the place where I'm getting married. Oh well! Thanks everybody for your suggestions!

I was told the same thing by the florist I met with. Roses are not that expensive! Flowers get expensive when you choose flowers that are NOT in season.

My reception place told me that the recommended florists are more familiar w/the setup and they require that I use one of the recommended florists. I don't really mind, I've heard of the ones they recommended before. I just need to watch my spending with the flowers, since it seems everything else is adding up.

Where is the reception? If you find their vendors very expensive I would go elsewhere, vendors can adjust to rooms in the reception halls...JMO

Use flowers that are in season to keep costs down.

callas, narynes, and white roses for my girls

lavendar & white rose petals for my f.g.

white rose on the lapel (sp?) of my r.b.

mini calla & stephanotis for pete

mini calla for bm

white roses for the groomsmen

lavendar and white rose petals to be tossed at us as we exit the church

2 dozen glorious white & lavendar roses on each table with one taper (2 total) on the sides of the arrangement.....



aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh... the beauty of it all.....
