Re: WHAT MADE YOU

I looked at about 15 places, however Flowerfield was the first place I saw and I knew right away that is was perfect. We are getting married at our hall, so I needed a place that had a beautiful room for the ceremony. The cocktail hour room is amazing there, also the grounds are incredible. I couldnt be happier with my choice!

Re: WHAT MADE YOU

My first choice would have been John Anthony's! I never even saw it! I heard about my friends wedding there and it sounded amazing! Plus, it's on the water- so I was sold already. I loved The Glen Island Harbor Club (New Rochelle) but went with The Crest Hollow because it was so gorgeous! I've heard nothing but good things and my family has had 3 weddings there. I don't mind the other affairs going on... (It didn't hurt that I work with a guy who's uncle owns it!)
I just thought, it's gorgeous- and I got a little bit of a deal.

The winner: The Bourne Mansion
The Runner-up: our backyard

I've been to a lot of catering halls/locations because of college formals and weddings and not on of them impressed me. My FH and I decided to have a tent wedding in our backyard, but parking logistics and the weather (it's hurricane season) had us concerned. We had made an appointment to view the Bourne Mansion at an earlier date, so out of curiousity, we decided to check it out anyway.

We walked in and our jaws dropped. The detail was magnificant! There's multiple rooms and the Great South Bay as the backdrop...what more could we ask for!?! Plus, they only have one wedding a day and I don't need to go elsewhere for photos. I also like the fact that most people are unfamiliar with the location.

I chose the Crest Hollow Country Club. I loved this place cuz we're having our ceremony outside and the grounds are beautiful. We're also having our cocktail hour outside by the pool. The place is just beautiful! My second choice was Westbury Manor. It's a little smaller the CHCC, but it's also nice. We just fell in luv with the Crest Hollow.

I really like Larkfied because of the selection of food choices (7 of them!), the beautifully decorated rooms and the price was awesome!

Milleridge Inn-hands down! Didn't even look anywhere else. I worked there for a couple of years and knew the reputation and their level of excellence, plus I love the way the place makes you feel you are in someone's home. Personally, I dislike all those LI wedding warehouse reception halls with gaudy details and lots of parties going on at once. Milleridge was perfect for me!

Re: WHAT MADE YOU

We picked RCC because after looking at 15 places , RCC was the only one that we both loved and that made us feel at home and me feel like it's the only place where I could possibly get married! But then they went out of business! Ha-Ha!:

Will post agian when we find a new place!

Re: WHAT MADE YOU

I would have to say for us that the room we are having it in is just so beautiful. Every other place just didn't have 'the look' for us. We are so happy with it. I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: WHAT MADE YOU

Catering halls are not me. I want my guests to feel like they are at a unique, relaxed, sophisticated party that reflects our style.

Bargemusic has, hands down, the most amazing view of NYC. It is right next door to the River Cafe, under the Brooklyn Bridge, facing the NYC skyline.

My FH and I live in Brooklyn and having a city wedding just felt right for us, even though we're from LI. (me high school, him his whole life).

My second choice would have been something totally different - a bbq on the grounds of a b&b or something like it, totally relaxed, fun.

Re: WHAT MADE YOU

I chose Villa Lombardi's for a few reasons. The first was the food. Both are families are Italian so they are used to great food and a lot of it!
Also, we thought the place was beautiful. And finally because it is very special to my FH and I since our first date was at Mama Lombardi's.

Re: WHAT MADE YOU

i'm with 112903 bride we chose riviera in massapequa b/c it was so nice and different and also one wedding at a time. The people were nice and the prices were good. The food tasting was good and also it wasnt a place that all of our guest have been to so it will be a new experience for 95% of our guests.

Re: WHAT MADE YOU

We chose the Hamlet WW for a bunch of reasons:

1. I was adamant about choosing a place with only one wedding at a time
2. I wanted something that was a little different from your typical reception site
3. The view is absolutely spectacular - I wanted a fall wedding with a fall theme, and the view enhances my wedding vision
4. I loved the setup of the place

It was also just a feeling - I walked into the place and could see myself getting married there!!!

Re: WHAT MADE YOU

We also chose the Riviera in Massapequa because it was on the water and was within our price range. We also wanted some place that did not have the typical catering hall look. Riviera was defenetly unique looking and had a charm- it kind of resembles the inside of a castle to me. The outside resembled a chalet and the grounds were just beautiful.

Our second choice was also on the water and had excellent food choices but was a little more expensive and did not have the same charm as the Riviera did. I forgot the name of the second choice, but it was in Babylon or W. Islip, on the south shore, also on the water.

What two choices are you torn between? Maybe we can give you feedback from other weddings we've been to.

Re: WHAT MADE YOU

We chose John Anthonys b/c I knew from the beginning that I wanted a place on the water. I had that feeling too! The $$ was significantly less than other places we saw. The menu and the amount of food was unbelievable for the $$ as well. We got tons of extras - including a room at the Garden City. The people there have been simply amazing to deal with!

Our 2nd choice was PJCC, but we thought it was too far away and didn't want to spend a bulk of the day traveling. The grounds are BEAUTIFUL and the food was great - at least it was at our tasting.

Good luck with your choice - let us know how it turns out!

Re: WHAT MADE YOU

I chose Coral House because:

1. The decor is very pretty, my reception room is so romantic looking

2. The staff is unbelievably nice and accomodating

3. The food is excellent , you got alot of it with alot of extras

4. The price is right- I could afford to have a Saturday night wedding in September.
