So what made you decide on a specific DJ? I kid of feel like they are all very similar. Besides price, I'm not sure what to look for. I have a list of questions I've been asking them, and I told them i want someone low-key (bascially just to play music) but I'm having a tough time seeing other differences in who I should go with. Any pointers?

We haven't selected our DJ but definitely go to showcases so you can hear them. My friend used Body Rock for her wedding and I thought they were great. Definitely price is going to play a big part in it as well, but I want to hear what they sound like. Check out some showcases so you can hear them. JT is having a showcase tomorrow night.

I looked at what a lot of other brides who used both companies had to say. We were deciding between Bravura and Big Hits and all aspects seemed comparible except, with 1 company we had to pay a $1700 deposit; the other $400. That made the difference because we didn't want to pay as much up front. Everything else was equal so $ was the deciding factor.

I went on recommendations!! I went to Tommy's Tunes, saw a video of the MC we would have and fell in love!! I knew Frankies personlity matched what we were looking for to a tea!!

We went with who we felt would do what we asked, play the music we liked and the best overall package. Plus theyre were recomended by our RH & work in connection with our photog on photo montages throughout the night on the plasma screens.

I absolutely didn’t want any kind of traditional wedding DJ company, so that knocked out a lot of choices for me. Thankfully, I found Gary Hoffman aka DJ Gaza. He’s been doing weddings for a while and before that, he was a DJ that worked at rock clubs and other clubs. As soon as I met him, I knew he was it—he’s just so amazingly sweet and laid back and great!

I had been to a lot of events where DJ's handed out party favors and had smoke come up from the floor and danced with the guests and was a very big presence. While that works for some things/events, i felt like it would't work for our wedding. I also did some research on here and checked out brides reviews/recommendations.
I loved our DJ, MusicbyMichael.com, because he was charming and classy and he 'read' our guests very well and was able to keep the party going the whole night. He was awesome.

I went by recommendations, the sound of the MC's voice(you don't want a high pitched voice) and price.

The reason why we chose Starlight Express is because they had a very good reputation and when we met with Vinny (owner), well, me and my parents just fell in love with him b/c he is so sincere. I met with 2 other dj companies and just didn't feel as comfortable with them as I felt with Starlight.
Also, Starlight was willing to work with us more than Body Rock.
ETA: After seeing them perform at our wedding, I was so happy I made the right decision. Our dance floor was packed the entire night.
