What made you pick...

your wedding date (or the month if you just were going for that)? I picked mine beccause it is our 6 year anniversary of our first date AND 12th year (they happen to fall on the same day) of knowing eachother!

I picked mine for 2 reasons. #1 is price- winter is cheaper! The second is that it is a holiday weekend and most people have off on Mon.

We picked April 15th because my FH's grandparents (who died very young when FH was a baby) were married on April 15th. It is a nice way to remember them and it happened to fall on a Saturday

We wanted March or April. Our anniversary is 3/25/06. March 4th was much cheaper! Plus we really didn't want it around a holiday.

I didn't. FH picked it.

We wanted summer because it is going to be an outside, tented wedding. We have 2 other weddings next summer, so August was a good month in regards to that.

9 (19) is a prominent number in Asian culture. Brings luck and achievement.

i wanted Saturday afternoon in late june or early/mid july (my favorite time of the year). The last weekend of june is my cuz's graduation, the 1st weekend of july is 4th weekend, july 15th was booked - so July 8th it was!

coincidentally it is my parents anniversary and FMIL's bday - but they were more than happy to share their day

Re: What made you pick...

Winter weddings are cheaper - plain and simple. I am saving money on my price per head as well as my entertainment.

I am a teacher and planned my wedding for the weekend that begins President's week so I can have an extended honeymoon (I am also taking the week after).

A summer wedding would have been too hot, too expensive and I need the $$$ from summer school to help pay for the wedding.

Another thing, was that we wanted a Saturday night temple wedding. However, we would not be able to be married until the sun goes down in observance of the Jewish Sabbath. No Rabbi, not even a Reform Rabbi would marry us until Shabbat was over. If we got married in the summer on a Saturday night, the wedding wouldn't start until close to 9pm. People would get home WAY too late.

We knew we wanted summer and our hall (back in feb) only had 3 dates left for a sat night in summer '06!! It was b/w our date, 4th of july wknd and late august. We didn't want a holiday weekend and since we want an ourdoor ceremony, we thought aug would be too hot. I like it... 06/10/06!

i had to pick june because i graduate end of may. this would be the only time i would have off to get married and go on a honeymoon before i start working :(

june 4 was the last sunday that the hall had left... i was dead set against sunday though...

now that i see the 35% chance of rain, i might have to reconsider

Re: What made you pick...

We originally were shooting for October, but then brother and SIL whined they have another wedding to be in next September. I was going to do it anyway, but decided maybe we should pick a warmer month.

Then we were shooting for July. But another couple we spoke to said that it might be too hot anywhere we go for our HM and that they got married in April and it was perfect.

So now here we are at April. I didn't want it before the 15th because of tax season. (I usually work in accounting). And we didn't pick May because the prices go up then. Can't get any closer than what we have!!

Plus FH likes that we're getting married on 4-30 at 4:30!!!

We picked september 2, 2006 b/c we wanted a holidy weekend, and memorial day was out, b/c my cousin used it in 04, and my aunt this year.
also we wanted a month where its not too hot, and not too cold.
So labor day weekend here we are!

Our schedules:

FI works in Baseball, so we couldn't have it during the season

Me - I start grad school in the Fall of '06 and didn't want to HAVE all that on my plate

Conincidence: Our anniversary is 4/24...but that fell into Greek Easter, and my family is Greek Orthodox, and we can't get married in that time.

Re: What made you pick...

for awhile that date was in my head, i knew i wanted summer... favorite month and easiest imo for a teacher who wants to honeymoon right after... BUT the exact date was because we have a lot of out of towners/out of staters and we thought a holiday weekend where family can come and see eachother and celebrate and make a vacation out of it would be nice! it is a good time in the summer- a few weeks after school ends and it doesnt get into the august heat! (although this august it would be perfect--- the weather is perfect)

Well I originally wanted a february wedding but MIL started to complain about snow and things like that so I changed it to November but the date I wanted in November FH 1/2 sister, dad and stepmother would be going to Vegas so I had said then september and when we went to go book the hall for some reason September 15th sounded great
