What Makes Your Wedding 'Unique'?

What Makes Your Wedding 'Unique'?

FH and I want to make our wedding stand out from the 500 weddings everyone has been to.

Is yours 'unique'? If so, why?

good question. nothing yet for us. still pretty standard. we will think about that extras to make it unique after all the major stuff is taken care of.

If you must know..........

FH insists on having an Incredible Hulk ice sculpture......in green ice

He actually asked the our banquet manager about it and she said as long as he brings in a picture they can probably do it. So he went and bought a poster..........

My wedding colors are red, black, white and silver, and he wants a GREEN ice sculpture

- It's vegetarian, which I know some people will freak about but it's because of our compassionate beliefs and the menu we've outlined so far with the RH flippin' ROCKS - no one will miss meat for this one meal!

- We're having Irish, Bengali and American customs throughout the day. I'll wear a typical white gown for the legal ceremony and then change into an Indian bridal lehnga before the reception, where we will have an imam perform a Muslim wedding ceremony for us (Muslim men can marry Christian or Jewish women). As for the Irish part: we'll most likely do a Celtic handfasting ceremony.

- The music will be everything from Pearl Jam and The Cure (our two faves) to Bollywood stuff to country - my parents are big country fans so we're going to have a couple of line dances going for them and their friends.

It sounds like a freakin' circus but hey...it's US!

well we met at Penn state, where we both went to College, so we plan to put in little penn state touches (nothing tacky!) to make it a little more personal.

I'm a HUGE PJ fan too - I've seen them 30 times and have the stickman tattoo, LOL! Which cover bands have you asked? I'm friendly with one in particular but don't know their rates - I can always ask though, as the singer and I are PJ tour buddies!

ETA: We're most likely going with a DJ since they can cover the range of music we'll need - it's a huge variety. And with all of the above going on, having a band come in too might be a bit too much of a clusterf*ck!

our is going to be an Israeli-Russian-American-French wedding
we are having all our origin and current location music. was a bit hard to find the DJ for it, but we did.

this is definitely the most 'unique' i've heard of. i think its great that your wedding really incorporates your beliefs, traditions and personalities. its sounds like a ton of fun!

Thanks! FH and I really want it to be personal and fun...I guess you could say that there's something for everyone at our wedding!

My dress has sort set the whole tone for the wedding. It has a 1940s vibe to it so we are going to carry that through the whole wedding. For the reception we are going to get a Swing band. Also, the Viennese hour is going to be held in a room that will be made to look like a cocktail lounge with big club chairs etc.

FH is of Eastern European descent, so I am sure that will play in somehow, probably in the form of people making super long toasts in Russian.

I still haven't made any firm decisions about decor yet. I was thinking maybe candles for centerpieces instead of flowers but who knows....

Re: What Makes Your Wedding 'Unique'?

I'm trying my best to make our wedding as unique as possible. Let's see, I guess our reception is unique because we will be having an Indian dohl (special type of drum) playing.

I'm also trying to make our cake unique; I would like to have the henna design I'm getting on my hands to match the design on the cake.

Another unique aspect of the reception is the food, we are having Indian, West Indian, and the usual types of wedding food.

My reception outfit is also unique to 'American weddings,' I will be wearing an Indian lehenga that is covered in Swarovski crystals from head to toe.

I love the idea of Henna on the cake!
