Re: What months are more cost effective???
Winter months... Sunday nights, or Afternoon weddings...Good Luck!!! There is a thread regarding reception pricing for 07, it most likely has all the halls that you are going to be looking into... Do a search for it.
It is under the 07 board and it is titled 07 reception hall and pricing... Something like that!
GOOD LUCK!

Re: What months are more cost effective???
December-March.... also SAturday day and Sundays are getting to be the cheapest times. Friday night used to be, but I found that SAturday afternoon was cheaper than Friday nights. It used to be that no one got married on A Friday night but now everyone does to save money, so it's getting close to the SAturday night prices. (but Sat. night is still the most $$$)I am getting married on a SAturday afternoon in February solely for the cost factor and we got a STEAL on our hall, by far the cheapest quote we got... photo guy threw inthe video for free and our band is playing for us for HALF of what they usually charge. it's low season for them too so they are willing to work with you...
I am still dreaming of my Saturday night in June, but the pocketbook just wouldnt' allow for it.

If you're a teacher, get looking quick... because even though I am getting married in Feb. EVERY hall where we looked said, 'Are you a teacher' Seems like we were all looking to book the SAturday of President's Day weekend, which is what I did because of the winter break that follows so i can go on my honeymoon. so basically, the holiday weekends that precede a school break fill up quick too!

No I am not a teacher. I am just on a tight budget, but I don't want to settle either. I am so stressed. We originally wanted October of 07, but now we are realizing we won't be able to have what we want. We might go for November in hopes that we might still have nice fall weather.

I totally know how you feel.... i don't know what your budget is...some people consider under 25K a small budget... Me and FH have a really tight budget... partly because I refuse to go into debt for ONE day and also because we are doing it all ourselves. I am having a wedding for 200 people with a band, full cocktail hour, big meal, etc. etc. for 15K (and that is including EVERYTHING!!!!!)my dress, flowers, limos, etc. etc.)
you will find great info. on this site....lots of us here are watching the cash..... FM if you need any help or suggestions.. good luck. don't stress because it is doable! there a LOT of ways to cut corners!

Re: What months are more cost effective???
Our budget is about the same. I am happy to hear that you have a similar busdget. Like you said most people think 25k is a small budget. Thanks you so much for the info.

Re: What months are more cost effective???
Jan-Feb. are the 2 most cost effective months. in march the rates start going up--and december is becoming much more popular.we went the absolute most cost effective route
Wedding at the hall in February
on a sunday
in the daytime!
lol you can't get much cheaper than that--besides doing it on a week day!

Re: What months are more cost effective???
wow i really did think that 25K was small which is about what we will be paying all together.. I have tried to stay as cheap as possible but my reception alone is 15,000 and then the rest is about another 10

Re: What months are more cost effective???
April is a cost effective month depending on the hallim getting married in april with april prices (more then winter less then summer).. but with may weather! (4/28)
couldn't be happier haha...
depends on the hall.. I'd ask.. b/c you might be able to get as 'late' as april without paying premium pricing

Re: What months are more cost effective???
my hall told me the 'off season' began october 1st and went through until the end of march-mid april.... but some times in there peak like xmas and holiday weekends... but try that... for day of the week, i def suggest sunday evening-- that's what i'm doing, it was SO much cheaper...the cheapest out of all of them is a thursday evening. Re: What months are more cost effective???
Peak months-May, June, September, October.July and August can also be pricey.
January-March are off peak so the prices will be lower.
Afternoon weddings are less expensive. Saturday night weddings are the most expensive. Friday nights are also expensive. You can save some money by having your wedding on a Sunday.
I hear Thursdays are starting to be more common as well because you can get a great deal for a weekday wedding.
Also holiday weekends aren't always less money, because sometimes the Sunday of a holiday weekend will be considered as a Saturday. However if the holiday is on a Monday(example labor day) then you can get a great deal. I remember at our hall if we did labor day it was going to be 69 pp.

Re: What months are more cost effective???
I picked March because I read it was cheaper and I HAVE gotten some kickass deals. Was able to get a lower minimum from my hall on a Saturday night. Also getting 'offseason' discounts from other vendors.

Re: What months are more cost effective???
Dec-March are typically the most cost effective though Saturday nights are always the most expensive. You can save a lot by doing it on a week night like Thursday or a weekend afternoon.Typically May-October is the most $$$.

Re: What months are more cost effective???
Sunday nights & Winter months. I had my wedding in January, orginally I was going to go with the end of March but that increased the cost of my hall by 10,000.

I hope this thread will help you:Thread on 07 prices
I picked March because it's still cheaper than summer and warmer (less threat of snow storms)
