what products do you use to keep your house smelling clean if you have dogs??
where do you keep your dogs while you are at work? we keep our girls in a huge playpen (like gated area) in our sunroom. I scrub the floor every night . what do you use to clean up after them?

My pug is housebroken - but when he had accidents we used Nature's Miracle. It is a very good cleaner and you can get it at any pet store.

That's what we use even if the mess isn't pet-related. It's great and safe for animals.

Our dog doesn't go inside at all, but as far as keeping it fresh smelling we use the armor hammer (SP??) carpet freshner for animals...it works great.

we have hardwood floors throughout our house. Our Puppy spend most of his time in his Kennel, when we are not watching him in the hallway between bedrooms. He gets a bath every 3 weeks and brushed eery 4-5 days and I clean my house regularly 1x a week (sweep mop etc) He is a VERY active dog. Plays at the dog park for hours on the weekend, swims (even in this weather) and LOVES TO DIG!!
Our house has never smelled of Dog or animals. We also have 2 cats that have free roam of the house. The kitty litter box is in the basement in tthe laundry room.
I think the important part is the regular baths and brushing.
edited to add: If they are not house broken I suggest you start crate training them so they don't go to the bathroom in the house. It is not acceptable in my house for the Animals to have an accident in the house unless they are sick. Loki hasn't had an accident since he was 4 months old because of crate training and he LOVES his kennel!

thanks ladies. I asked this question because I clean the floor in the sun room w/ pinesol w/ lemon. It is really tough to have to come home and clean the floor every night. the girls have about a 6 foot space to mess up while we aren't home. they use the wee wee pads but then decide to shred them and whatnot. argh... I end up having to bathe them every 3 days. The house doesn't smell like pets but I'm tired of it smelling like pine w/ lemon.

my house does not smell like dog because i keep her very clean.
She isn't allowed on my furniture, only our bed.
I get her groomed every 6 weeks and often bathe her once in between.

I think that my post wasn't very clear. My problem is that the girls sometimes use on the floor or the wee wee pad. The house doesn't smell like doggies its just that everyday I scrub their area w/ pinesol w/ lemon. It smells great but not a smell you want to come home to everyday.

I would defenitely use nature's miracle then, it has no smell and works to break down the enzymes and proteins in urine which help dogs to 'mark' or go in a same spot again.
On a side note: Have you ever considered crate training your doggies so that they don't go to the bathroom in the house and you don't have to clean up every day? I don't know how you do it? I'd go nuts if the dog wen tot he bathroom in teh house everyday
