what's he going to ask?

I am meeting the msgnr. tomorrow from St. Pats. What questions do you think I need to be ready for ? What did everybody have to do for the first 'meeting?' with a Catholic Priest?

I was so scared the first time we met with our Priest (part of the reason is because we are an interfaith couple so I thought he may not be willing to marry us).

I have to say, I really worried for nothing. He asked us lots of questions such as: what qualities do you bring out in eachother, what things did you learn from you family growing up that would like to bring to your family, what's your style of fighting and how do you feel when you fight, he had us talk about our religions, asked us if we had any questions.

I don't think you need to actually get prepared, just stay calm and enjoy it!

When we met with our priest, he ask my FI all my info. and vice versa. Then he separated us, and asked us about kids, whether we made promises to other people about marriage. I have to say I was VERY nervous. I lucked out with the priest I met with. He was very humorous.. Don't worry at all. Good Luck!!! by the way I work down the block from St Pats.. You will have a wonderful ceremony! Congrats

When we met the priest he asked us to talk to him separately. He asked me if I wanted children and if I would raise them Catholic, if I went to church, stuff like that. Then my FH told me he asked him if he 'was able to perform his marital duties?!' I was a little surprised. But we're having a family/friend priest marrying us (hopefully). Then the basic stuff, when and what time. It was a little weird for me but it doesn't last long.

The first time we met priest he just asked the usual who, what & when questions. There was no need to ask about children (our son was crawling around the office) He did ask why we didn't get married prior to the birth of our son. And we just told him how we didn't want to make that much of a commitment until we were 100% sure. He also asked how important is religion in our life 1 being not so much to 5 very important. Other then that he just told us about pre-cana. You have to remember they're just people to. Relax everything will be fine!!

Jenny- which Priest. Is it the new younger one? Not to scare you (and no offense to anyone who likes him) but he is a jerk. That is the truth. My priest told us that he has had couples come to him (different church) after meeting with that one because they were so upset by what he said to them. I think he gets into a lot of personal business and your faith, not sure about sex. I heard him do a mass and he was telling the church members to boycott TV stations/newspapers etc.. that say it is okay to be gay and raise a family because it is against God. Well my sister is gay and a very good person so I told the Pastor that he should be ashamed of himself allowing that Priest to say hateful things in a Church and have not gone back. Just to let you know.

Our priest had us fill out a couple of forms and he asked us questions like:

Were you baptized? What church? Were you confirmed? If so, which church?

Do you want children? Do you plan to raise them Catholic?

He asked if either one of us was married before and if I was being forced into this marriage.

He then asked us if we knew the score of the Yankee game...(our priest is a huge Yankee fan and so are we).

No. At St. Pat's in Smithtown. Sorry I had no idea you meant the 'real' St. Pat's. How did you swing that? I think you need to be a celebrity to get married there......

Kidding! Wouldn't that be a blast! You'd all have to guess who I am!!!

No - we have a friend of a friend - able to swing it. We'll see - I will know all the details tomorrow!
