What Should I DO?

What Should I DO?

I invited a few coworkers to the wedding. On their response card I put that 2 seats are reserved for each party. Anyway, one of my coworkers is coming with her daughter. However, she has a son and also wants him to come. Why, I have no clue. But anyway, she asks my other coworker who is not coming with a guest to take her son as a guest so that he can also attend. I know that her card was given for 2 but what the hell is that? To make matters worst, I am not even crazy about her son, as he is so rude and not a pleasant guy. So, I spoke to her today and she tells me that why shouldn't she able to bring him because, since my other coworker doesn't have a guest she should be able to bring him as her guest. Hello, whose wedding is it? I need to find a way to get him not to come but I just don't know how to go about it. Please Help.

the only way i can think of is if you are having an 'adult only' reception......are you?

Honestly, I don't know that there's a way you can tell her to not bring her son if the other co-worker is willing to bring the son as the guest.

Maybe you could speak to the other co-worker and have her say no to the request?

Uck! That is sticky, maybe you can tell her very politely that you have a very big family, and unfortunately if you get any no's you are going to offer those seats to your distant cousins... or something along those lines.
And it is EXTREMELY rude for her to question you about your guestlist!

Hmmm...wow!! That's crazy. I don't know what to tell you, but it may not be worth trying to get him not to come from a political perspective at work. I think your coworker is being ridiculous, but at the same time, you may not even notice that her son is there. If you try to make a concerted effort to make sure he doesn't come she will be offended and there could be some unpleasantness with her. If she's someone you work with on a daily basis it may not be worth it.

That succks! If you wanted to invite her whole family you would have addressed the invite to The Smith Family. W T F?!?!?!

I really don't know what you can say! How old is her son?

I think this is the best way to handle it. I don't think you should just let it slide - it's YOUR wedding. Talk to the other coworker, ask her to say no to the request - and tell her that any no's will be used for a B list.

I agree with saying you need seats for 'b listers' or are you having a no children policy ??

TICKETS?!?!?!?!...what is this opening season?!?!? I understand you said for lack of a better word...but you can not compare a wedding to a event where you have to buy tickets!

I'm sorry for butting in here but it's just plan out wrong!

100% agree. The only people at your wedding should be those you want there. If you don't like this kid, he shouldn't be at your wedding.

Again I hate to be the 'b!tchy' one here but I honestly feel that people do not understand what it's like to have a wedding and deal with all this unneccessary BS until they actually go through it.
I totally understand what SANDYROODY is going through because I have a similar situation. I invited one of my coworkers and her husband. She told me that she wasn't going to bring her husband instead she was going to bring another coworker. Um....I don't think she realizes that there were so many other coworkers I wanted to invite but because we have a huge guest list I couldn't invite everyone I wanted from work. The person she is bringing is NOT one of the people I wanted to invite and couldn't!

first, I would be upset that she is taking her kid as a guest...but, I dont know her situation so I wont go on with that...

second....W T F is that...

Re: What Should I DO?

you have to tell her 'YOU are allowed 1 guest only, and you cant mooch off of someone else's guest' if her son is 15 I am sure he can stay at home alone for a couple hours. I swear people are just so out there.
