What should I do... a little long

What should I do... a little long

As you all know, I decided about a month ago to get married THIS September.

My SIL and sister JUST had babies so things in my family have been CRAZY busy... My mother is going nuts with all the christening planning and visiting my sisters (they live in MD & VA)

Unfortunately, I won't be having a suprise Bridal shower so I have to help plan it b/c everyone else is so busy.. Anytime I mention it to my mother she goes on about how overwhelmed she is.. Rightfully so... I totally understand.

My probelm is, I feel like 86ing the idea of a shower b/c everything feels so rushed. You know? I dont want to inconvenience anyone..but I'm the last sibling to get married, i deserve a shower.

Anyway, the tentative date for my shower is August 19. I feel like thats too soon as we havent even registered yet etc etc.

I suggested September 7 (one week before our wedding) b/c it might be easier on FSIL who just moved to Colorado. But my mother pointed out that it might be an inconvenience for people from out of state (FH's entire family is in NJ) to come here 2 weekends in a row. My sister is baptising her daughter on Sept. 2, and August 25-26 is out of the question.

Is Aug 19 too soon? We're sending out our wedding invitations beginning of next week... Is it poor taste to send out Bridal Shower invites right after (or before?)

ugh.. I just feel like forgetting the whole thing.

I am getting married Sept 22 and they are doing my shower August 4. So I don't think it's to soon.

I'm getting married Sept 22 and I had mine last weekend. It was just easier because a few of the out of state people were going to be in town. Whatever works, I think..

I think you definitely should have and deserve a bridal shower. It's great that your sis and fsil both had babies recently but that should push you our of the lime light. By the way your godson and goddaughter are SOOOOO CUTE!!!!

Look, people will always be busy, there will always be new babies and busy schedules etc. Do not think that you are inconveniencing anyone by moving up your wedding! Guess what, someone could have gotten prego and had a baby right before your original wedding date next year - life happens!

So, you deserve a shower if you want one (and most of us do). August 19th is perfectly fine! Anytime between now and the end of August is fine. Usually the shower is 2-3 months before the wedding.

So, that said, set the date and then get your booty to some stores to register! Or do what I did - open your registry online and add all the items you like. Then go to the store to look at the items you picked and make changes as necessary - MUCH easier than starting at the store - that can be overwhelming.

Good luck! And those babies are super adorable!!!

You definately deserve to have a shower :) Your wedding is just as important as your sister's baby.

i think August 19th would be fine, there will be enough time for the invites, for people to shop and it isn't right on top of your wedding.

I hope everything comes together smoothy, good luck and don't stress.

Yeah, I don't think my FH realized just how much time I saved him by doing the bulk of the registry online! We went to make changes and after about 5 minutes his eyes glazed over

I originally put like 3 different sets of dishes, flatware, extra bedding etc. Then when I went to the store, I checked it all out and deleted the items I no longer wanted. In a couple of cases, I made a totally different decision based on what we saw in the store.

You are not being pushy at all. . . You are a beautful bride to be. . . all brides deserve a shower. . . .

So stop being silly. . . have your shower and dont worry what anyone says. . .

My cousin is having a baby her due date is my wedding day my grandmother was like if she has the baby i wont be able to come to the wedding. . my cousin told my grandmother that if she does have the baby and my grandmother goes to see it she will not talk to her cause a wedding happens once but they will be able to see that baby the rest of their lives. . . .

Re: What should I do... a little long

You can definitely do it August 19th. My shower is August 26th (not a surprise either) and we're still not done registering. I'm figuring the shower invites will go out in early July so I have the next two weeks to finish up the registry. And it doesn't matter about the wedding invites...whether they go out before or after the shower. I'm not sending invites out until the week of my shower or first week in Sept.
