What should I do? Spend 2x as much for flowers now?
Original post by QueenPeach
I paid Gina in full already. She just emailed me yesterday saying that she'd see me this Saturday with my wedding flowers. I've trusted her this whole time and now I'm calling all these florists to see if they even have the resources and how much it would cost. BUT what if Gina's texts and emails to me are true and she is going to show up with my flowers? Then I would've paid $1K-$2K more for a 2nd set of flowers that I didn't need. What should I do???

From what I've been reading, I wouldn't take the chance with her. I'd send her an email basically stating that you can't trust her because of all the lies and rumors circulating. If she tries to convince you to stay with her, then do what the other girls mentioned and ask to see the flowers.
Maybe also have something written up for her to sign, like I, Gina, promise to have flowers for _____'s wedding.
Something like that.

You need to take a trip to her house. Why keep asking questions based on what too many different people are saying? Sending emails at this time is pointless.

i dont know if this would be possible but maybe try contacting some place that offers floral design classes and see if students can make the centerpieces if you pay for the flowers? here are two schools i found online:
you could also see if brooklyn/queens botanical garden or wesbtury gardens offers floral design classes and see if they can help

My parents just went to her house and she's not there. Her brother answered the door and told us to look for another florist because there's no way Gina is doing my flowers. He feels certain it's not going to happen.
2 minutes later I get an FM from a bride who said she talked to Gina on the phone and Gina said that she has a bunch of assistants now and she delivered flowers last saturday and is set for this weekend.
What the F is up with all this conflicting information?!?! This is not what I F*ing need right now. I have 2 days! 2 days! I want to be on a cloud of excitement and I have this instead. I should've been writing my goodbye post or something.
I personally would trust what your parents told you before some random person...
Absolutely. I know you posted about Burton's in another thread. I have my fingers crossed they are able to help you!!!!

If she's responding to your emails I would get in touch with her again and tell her in light of everything that has been going on you want to come to see the arrangements/flowers/bouquets today/tonight. The flowers would have to be in by now right? I know a lot of florists will let the brides come in the day before to see them.
great minds think alike, this is exactly what i told you too!
I think this makes the most sense right now.
So sorry you have to deal with this. I know your wedding will be amazing either way I just hope your flowers are part of your day

Go there and demand your $$. I would not trust them to do the flowers at this point. I'm sorry. I'd be at Stop and Shop buying flowers instead of giving her one more iota of my time.

Isn't that a strange coincidence? Can you reply to gina's email and tell her she must call you. And also explain that her brother is telling you to book some one else.
Even if she shows you the flowers, you do not know that they are actually your flowers or that she will show up with them on Saturday. Spend the money book someone else and then fight to get what you already paid her back.

I would absolutely NOT trust that info. If her own BROTHER is saying no way, thats all I'd need to hear. Stop giving her the benefit of the doubt! This is clearly snowballing out of control. I would find a new florist ASAP.

Don't believe the FM your parents went there and were given this info by the brother. All of a sudden she went from mental breakdown to tons of assistants. Thats a load of BS. Either go the stop and shop route or call your local florists they should be able to help you.
I'm sure there are some sketchy brides on here to who think its funny that other brides are getting screuued to so I wouldnt always believe what they tell you on here.

I would def go with another florist and not take the chance. Honestly I think I was one of the last weddings she actually attended and to be honest the quality of the flowers was not great at all.......my bouquet died before my reception ended which really upset me bc I was having the flowers dried and preserved for a frame ......and my guests that took home centerpieces said not only did the flowers die in a day but they had nats all over for days after.
.............I am soooo sorry you have to go through this.

Re: What should I do? Spend 2x as much for flowers now?
I've emailed and texted Gina about seeing the flowers in person but she has not replied back. Now that my parents have seen it and heard it, I guess that was the last nail in the coffin. Not that I don't trust the other girls that went there, but I guess I was just too hopeful that I had to hear it for 'myself'/my parents. I also spoke to that guy Jason from Village florist place and he pretty much confirmed my decision to book elsewhere.
So....I ordered flowers from Burt0ns. They were the most helpful of the florists I called and are able to give me exactly what I ordered from Gina, plus extras for 2/3rds the price. I called and started telling them my story, had to stop because I burst into tears while on the phone with a stranger (Carol), and she patiently waited and comforted me while I was having one of those you-can't-understand-a-word-I-say cries. I got the cry out and then emailed them pictures of my sample centerpiece from Gina, pictures of what I had ordered for bouquets and they're doing it all. I felt bad for asking for everything so last minute and was simplifying my original order from Gina. They stopped me and told me not to dumb it down. They wanted me to just tell them exactly what I had wanted for my wedding and they will do it all. They said they ordered the flowers for me on the spot - one was talking to me while I heard the other talking and writing everything down and calling their flower people- and I hadn't even paid them one cent yet. They said that I could just stop by and pay by the end of the day but they are definitely ordering the flowers immediately so they'll have enough time. My parents went there to drop off the payment and they were raving about how much they liked the people there. Dad felt like Burton's was very honest and appreciated how they showed him the many B*urt0ns employees working in the back on flowers for this weekend and the 3 Burton trucks there and ready to deliver flowers. They are even doing a wedding at my hall the night before mine.
I'm relieved now but still very sad. I can't get this sadness outta me. Maybe it'll pass by tomorrow hopefully.. but it has been too much stress and too many unknowns. I had a lot of hope. We'll all find out on Saturday what the verdict is when she does or does not show up. Anyhow, I think this is my goodbye post. Thanks girls for all your help and advice!
I'm getting married to the most wonderful man in the world!!!

I'm glad to here that ******* was able to help. At least your mind is rested for Saturday. Enjoy your day and push the sadness behind you - life too short and wedding day is too important for you to spend it sad or upset.
