This is long, but useful if you wantto lose that 10lbs in 2 months.
Being in the health field, I don't necessarily agree with what am470 wrote. She has the write idea of staying within the serving size for different foods (certainly NEVER eat out of the box/bag - you'll get into trouble). DO NOT , however, ever cut out your breakfast.
Think of it as a car, you fill up on gas before you go on a trip. Well, for your body, everday is a trip - literally or figuratively. FILL THE ENGINE UP!!!.
High fiber, fruit ( I Like Kashi GOLEAN CRunch with blueberries- gotta be the crunch) with WATER or Green Tea in the AM. (Green Tea speeds metabolism...a staple of losing weight.) Be sure to drink WATER though,. If you can walk/jog/run or a combo of them in the AM. If Not, save it until dusk. I go with my Fiancee, she hates it but knows it's best.
Folow your Breakfast, with a light snack (Powerbar/20oz. Gatorade) 2-3 hours later. A decent lucnh (Turkey on Whole wheat, A 6 inch subway-water or diet sode, preferably a sports drink or water, but it's okay if you have the craving for the soda - just don't go nuts). Another light snack 2-3 hours after lucnh (more fruit, or oatmeal/granola bar - Kellog's are good, low in fat only 90 calories.) Then easy on the dinner...lean meats, veggie burger, turkey sausages, salads (Panera rules!!), with veggies - gotta have 'em. You can weight train in the PM if you have time. I can touch on that later if you guys want more info. Then a light snack - 2 hours after dinner - i love salsa or black bean dip with baked tositos.
All in all, your body will adapt and metabolism speed up. Exercise is the key though...even if its just for 10 minutes. The little stuff counts as well. If it's nice park far from the mall and walk. Go 2 steps at a time instead of 1. In the house, run up thestairs. Make everything you do a workout - cario wise.
I'l check back on Monday at night - after my run.

Re: What should I do to look good in 2 months?
thanks for all the info, very helpful! ligroom, i'd love to hear your thoughts on weight training. how many reps, which areas to target, maybe even which exercises to do? i'm sort of stuck on the most effective way to shape up the parts that'll be showing (arms and shoulders) for the big day. thanks!!

It's funny, every bride wants sculpted arms and shoulders b/c her dress will show them off. Everyone that is except....for my own fiancee!! It doesn't bother her - that's why I love her.
Good news...two months is enough time to still get that 'toned' look you want.
Aslo, it doesn't take much equipment. You can use 1 or 5 or 10lb dumbbells, or if you're home, use (2) 20 oz. water bottles (they're light but if you do the exercises right, you'll feel it), or for other use gallon water jugs (more water = more resistance). Just don't drink your 'weights' while you're working out.
Your best bet is it to super set - meaning doing opposing body part (biceps vs. triceps, front vs. back of your shoulders, upper body vs. lower body, etc.) It means one body part takes a rest while another is working then going back to the first and alternating between the two for a certain amount of sets. Like a front shoulder raise to a bentover fly, or a squat to a shoulder press. Then you can intergrate different exercises for the same body parts, alternating again in a similar fashion. Got me so far? A lot of exercising can be used on a Thera-ball (big beachball lokking thing.) If you hve one, awesome! Ask around. Many of my friends have one but just use it to kick it at the cat.
Tell me what equipment you have and e'll go from there...like I said water bottles work great

I think you misunderstood me. I don't think people should cut out breakfast. I recommended a slim fast.

i have found that limiting my intake of carbs has helped to lose weight and to tone I have begun weight training/cardio classes at the gym.
i nly eat whole wheat carbs/fruit and vegetables, lean meats, lite cheeses and fish. i stopped eating pasta and rice and white bread. if you eat in moderation and drink enough water during the day, that will help, as ligroom said.
definitely begin an exercise routine. and take a multivitamin. that has helped alot for me, giving me energy.

True...but a slim fast won't fill you up like a high fiber/protein diet, the constant hydration will keep you feel full as well. Diurtics will make you tired, sluggish and dehydrated even BEFORE you exercise, if you even get to the point because of the aforementioned.

Very sound advice. Be wary of a 'low-carb' diet. Yes, it will take off lbs, but mainly because people on those diets throw away the extra calories. (Think Big Mac without the bun vs. with it. No bun = less calories.). It's the reason Atkins, South Beach work. I only recommend the Atkins to those who are severely overweight, not if they just want to get rid of those extra 10 lbs.

CURVES is great too... it's only 30 minutes a day... it's cardio and resistance training... you go 3 times a week (or more if youwant)... and it really is painless!
BUT- I also heard that NY Sports Clubs and other clubs are doing a 'Bridal Boot Camp' focusing on loosing those last 10 pounds, and toining up the upper boddy... check it out at their webiste... sounds interesting!
