My best friend is getting married in two weeks. I am in the Bridal Party. I am tossed on what to give. I think $250 is too little with the cost of weddings nowadays. I was thinking $300 or $350. What does everyone think? Or should I go to $400? I just don't know. I told FH it doesn't really matter what we give them because in seven months they are going to give it right back to us for our wedding. Help!!! Thanks in advance.

P.S. Just because you give them that doesn't mean you will get the same amount back.

Thanks Stacey, thats the thing, I know them, and I know they will actually give us more than what we give them, so I don't want to be too cheap. I know what it is costing per head and I want to try and give a little more than that. My mom said $200 would be fine, that I am not supposed to be paying for their wedding, plus I have spent over $1000 on the dress, shoes, accesories, gifts, parties, hair and Make-up. But i think that is too little.

you could give her 300, then the morning of you could give her a photo frame with their name and date engraved or something... just for something physical for them to remember you by...

We did that with one of our friends who we know would give us more, so we gave them more and they gave us the same amount at our wedding. Give what you can. They are your friends and they should understand because they are going through the same thing as you with their wedding.

The last wedding we went to we gave $500 and a service set from Tiffany's, but both the B&G are good friends of ours since Junior High School, so I went a little over-board!
ETA: I think $300 would have been more than OK, and I still think it is OK. That's a number I could live with seeing on my own wedding day!

My FI was just a GM in a wedding and we gave $200, but the wedding was in Arizona and they paid around $30/head. Now FI's friend is in our wedding in NY next week and he and his wife gave us a china place setting ($90). What are you gonna do, they have no idea how much NY weddings cost. If you feel like you can afford it, I would give $300 as you wouldn't want to give $200 and regret it b/c you thought it was too little.

WOW Hearz !!! Do you want to come to my wedding. You are a very good friend. I think I am going to stick to $300. Considering I am planning my own wedding and they both know that and understand. I have bought them plenty so far too. i went out and spent $300 when they got engaged, plus $400 on gifts for them at the shower. So, I think they are making out pretty good.

everyone varies... I say no less than 75 a person, but more like 100 to 150 a person depending on how close to the couple you are... Hopefully by my wedding I will have made friends with some LIwedding girls to invite... its nice talking to other people planning cause alot of single girls tend to get jealous, and LIwedding girls love planning little details that alot of other brides dont think of Ok that just sounded like a plug for this website

You are so right. I don't really like to bring up my wedding around single friends. For some reason they get all defensive and start talking about what they will do one day when they get married. And they try to knock down stuff that I plan on doing.

yeah.. definately not what I want to hear... i dont want to feel guilty for anything.. Luckly one girl(who's family is friends with mine) is going to be my BM... she's single, but she loves planning things so she has been really great with looking at dresses, and giving me different ideas... the only thing is, its easier to hang out with just me and her, no fiance... it would be nice having other couples to hang out with

I gotta tell ya though....... the people that my friend thought she would get major $$$ from really didn't give alot.... the ones that did give crazy cash really surprised her. Ya never know.
