I have an 11 AM Church, CH starts at 1 (but we decided only to do a CH for a half hour!)

Invite for 5:30, Ceremony at 6:00, Cocktail hour 6:30-7:30, Reception 7:30-11:30!!
Does anyone else think it's stupid to invite for 30 mins earlier?? I am nervous everyone will be running late, get lost, or traffic because it's labor day weekend..

I don't know...I was thinking about the same thing. Should I make my invite 15 minutes earlier than the actual ceremony? What are you girls doing?

No I agree bc people are always late and if you want things to run smoothly then you're safer with ppl there alil earlier. I'm assuming the Ceremony is not in a church, so if not maybe you could have some coffee & cookies or something to hold ppl over until the ceremony starts.
Our RH won't let the wedding go past 5 bc of the night wedding and the church is 40 mins away (I know thats dumb but our priest is my dads bestie) so the breakdown is
10am- Ceremony 12pm- CH 1-5 Reception
and I think we may use the lobby area in our hotel for an mid-evening after party, bc FH doesn't want to go out to the bars in a big group, lol.
12:00 invite time 12:30 ceremony 1-2 cocktail hour 2-6 Reception

Invite has 6:45pm start time - I figure the people that really want to be there on time, will be but for those that can't be, 15 minutes should be enough
Ceremony: 7:00pm CH: 7:30-8:30pm Reception: 8:30pm to 12:30am
