My hall is at 6:30 on a Saturday nite...everyone keeps saying that is early for a Saturday....do you think it is?? I'm starting to think I should make it 7:30-1:30 as opposed to 6:30-12:30.

Re: What time is your reception???
My reception starts at 6 pm on a Saturday. I did it mostly because of my nieces-nephews, my sisters arent night owls and my older relatives have to drive back to Brooklyn, the Bronx and NJ. I'd keep the time as is. Everyone can always party afterwards.

Re: What time is your reception???
My cocktail hour begins at 6:30 and the reception is from 6:30-12:30. I think that is a typical time for a Saturday night. Plus by starting it a little earlier you'll be sure that most people will stay until the end.

Thats true PinkRose...You are getting married at Chateau Briand too!!! I liked that time....I keep hearing that Saturday nite weddings usually start later. I'm glad to hear that yours begins at 6.

Re: What time is your reception???
My cocktail hour is at 7:00 - everyone thinks it is late but I think anywhere from 5:30 - 7:00 start is average for a sat. night.

Re: What time is your reception???
My reception starts at 6:00; it's on the Sunday before Columbus Day so it's like a Saturday.

Re: What time is your reception???
We had a 6 hour wedding instead of 5. Our cocktail hour (and a half) was from 7-8:30 and our reception was from 8:30-1am.

Re: What time is your reception???
On a Friday night...pre-ceremony, 7 - ceremony, 7:30 - CH, 8 - reception, 9-1.
I don't think an hour will make a difference...your CH will be from 6:30-7:30 and then people won't eat until close to 8:30. Nothing wrong with that - I don't think it's too early at all.
