What time should I write on my invites?

What time should I write on my invites?

Hi Gals,

Ok...soooooo...I am getting married at East Wind. The Ceremony start time is at 6pm and the cocktail hour starts at 6:30pm. So, I was thinking that maybe I should tell my guests 5:45pm on the invitation.

Is anyone else doing this?

Also, how would you say '5:45pm'

Would you say

Five Fourty-Five

or

a quarter to six

or

three quarters past five (my cousins did this and my whole family thought it was stupid)

Also,

would you write 'in the evening' after that?

Thanks in advance.

i put the start time -- 6:30

if people don't have the common sense to arrive at least 15 minutes early, then they won't be able to watch the ceremony

Same here. And everyone was on time (at least that I know of).

I plan on putting atleast half hour before the ceremony actually starts. Westbury manor has hospitality for any guest that comes before the ceremony starts. I'm sure you RH does also.

If you put 6:30 people may think the ceremony really starts at 7. Most people do put an ealier time and would not chance your guests thinking along those lines and miss the ceremony and half of the cocktail hour

I would put 5:30pm. 5:45 is awkward for people to process, lol, sorry to be blunt.

I agree. We're putting out actual start time.

Actually, I was a very very very bad girl.. I put 5:15 for a 6:00pm ceremony

I have many many many always-late-to-everything people coming. For the early birds, my dads gonna spread the word by mouth.

But to be honest, I don't care if ppl are mad. Be AT MY CEREMONY DAMNIT!!:

Land's End said not to put any earlier than the start time. They will not be prepared for guests who arrive early, so they will stand around waiting. So I am putting the correct time.

Put the actual start time- if people are late it is too bad if they miss you walking down the aisle. Adults should be able to show up on time.

We have the actual start time on my invites..I have a few friends who are always late but that is not my problem. If they do not make the church I'll see them few hours later at the CH.

I think it's rude to put the start time too much earlier. I am one that is always about 20 mins early anyway so if I had to wait an hour I would be aggravated and probably talk about it.

I did a half hour before. My RH is not really easy to get to...windy, 1 lane roads... especially in the summer with all the traffic.

You need to communicate with your RH on this issue. If they allow it, I'd put a 1/2 hour early. My RH always does 1/2 early and guests have champagne and refreshments beforehand.

5:30. A half hour before.

I would speak to your hall and ask them what they think you should do. Some halls will tell you to put an earlier time and some will tell you to put the actual time.

My hall told me to put a half hour earlier so that people would be on time for the ceremony. My sister is getting married in Oct and her hall told her to put the actual start time of the ceremony
