What time should I write on my invites?

Original post by FutureMrsDavid

Hi Gals,

Ok...soooooo...I am getting married at East Wind. The Ceremony start time is at 6pm and the cocktail hour starts at 6:30pm. So, I was thinking that maybe I should tell my guests 5:45pm on the invitation.

Is anyone else doing this?

Also, how would you say '5:45pm'

Would you say

Five Fourty-Five

or

a quarter to six

or

three quarters past five (my cousins did this and my whole family thought it was stupid)

Also,

would you write 'in the evening' after that?

Thanks in advance.

i put the exact time on the invites... i figured everybody is an adult and should be able to make it on time. if they cant make it on time, its their loss. they should know to show up on time....

I put a half hour before...my RH is out in Setauket and we all live in Nassau towards Queens (if not farther). Its on a winding road and confusing to get to, plus I have chronically late people in my life.

But then again, there will be soda and stuff available to people when they get there.

defiantly talk to your RH, I'm doing half hour before the ceremony, rh offers hospitality half hour before.

We're putting our actual start time, 6.

I would put 15 mins before hand. My sister put exact time and some people were late, so I am putting 15 mins before

I would put a half hour before. I agree with a previous poster that many people assume you didn't put the actual start time.
