We have a few people we didn't have a card from at our wedding. We don't know if they didn't give us one or if it got lost or stolen. What is the best way to go about finding out without being tacky? If they gave a gift and it was lost I don't NOT want to send a thank you... but at the same time if they didn't give something I don't want to thank them for something they didn't give... do we just explain that we didn't have a card and wanted to make sure it didn't get lost? Help!

It seems like this happens at every wedding!
Not ours Thank God. I would have no clue what to do. We thought we had one of those, but when we came home from the HM we had a card with check waiting for us in the mail.
That is such an akward situation...very uncomfortable.
I have to agree--we only had one couple not give a gift & he is 19 so we let it go because we know his situation & to us it didn't matter all that much we ended up getting ALOT of nice gifts--we are still getting gifts from people who didn't attend our wedding & some from peopel who weren't even invited (DH is a pharmacist--so we have gotten alot of gifts from his customers). I think that if they got lost or stolen most people will ask after a while why their check wasn't cashed---if they gave cash & the card is lost it is just somethign you have to live with.
I think you just have to let it go--see if people mail you a gift or if they ask. No matter what I feel that you must send a thank you to those that came even if they didnt' bring a gift---you can send one & just not thank them for a gift but say thank you for coming--that might be neough of a hint.

Re: What to do if you didn't get a gift?
i wouldn't say anything - most likely they didn't gift.
there were about 10 people who didn't give anything at our wedding - but we did have a 'destination' wedding, and most people paid several hundred dollars to stay out on the North Fork so we didn't get pissed or anything, their presence was our gift.
The awkward situations, for me, are the people who keep SAYING they have a gift for you, or are going to send a gift (and keep asking for your address) but never send it. That is weird to me. If you are not going to give a gift, fine. but don't make this whole embarrasing song and dance EVERY time I see you! That has made one of my friendships very awkward.

I would wait a while...we got THREE gifts this week with Christmas cards...it was like people realized they forgot or something. ANd a bunch of people are telling us they still have to get us our gifts.

I actually received gifts from everyone, but 2 checks bounced. I don't know what to say to the couples... I think the bank notifies them, right???
But you get charged

We did have a few people who attended our wedding and did not give anything. DH and I are like we will not ask them about a gift it is just tacky for us to do. Moreover, we are happy that they took the time out of their busy schedules to celebrate our very precious moment. For us getting married and inviting people it is not about the gifts but for people to attend and celebrate with us. JMO
