WHAT TO DO W/ BFF Wedding Gown??

WHAT TO DO W/ BFF Wedding Gown??

My bestfriend, who would have been my MOH passed away suddenly in November. This was someone that I spoke to just about everyday. I was closer with her than with my own sisters. Needless to say that her passing has been very difficult to accept and deal with. Anyways, her DH just sent me her wedding gown. The dress itself isn't in the best condition, not to mention that she got married in 89. I did tell him that I wasn't planning on wearing because I already bought my dress but that I did want to use it in some way, the material that is. The dress has a lot of lace and beading and I'm looking for ways to use the fabric so that I can have that part of her there with me on my wedding day. I truly am lost without her and just need to find ways to remember her on that day without it being upsetting.
Any suggestions??? TIA

I am so sorry for your loss Can you use part of it in your veil? or an attachment to your dress?

what about using the lace to make your veil and maybe a little clutch for you to carry?

I am so sorry for your loss!

Your idea of implementing her wedding dress in your wedding is such a thoughful idea.

You can easily use fabric to wrap your bouquet or have a hankie made with some of the fabric.

Is it in good condition to make a veil?
wrap some material around your /BM BO-K stems?
part of it decorate the memorial candle?

Hmmm. I've heard of people making Christening gowns from wedding gowns, but that's all. What about the ring pillow? That may not be personal enough.

Can you us the material to make a sash on your gown?

What about a mantilla? Make it into your veil! I am so sorry that you've lost your best friend. I can only imagine how heartbroken you are!!

Also, I'm sorry for you loss.

Maybe if you can't find a way to incorporate her gown you can at least embroider her initials into your gown.

Do you have a veil yet? You could either have a veil made out of the dress material, or if you buy a veil still incorporate the material in it....add some of the lace or beading?

Or even if you want to do something smaller and simple, like making a hair clip with the beading from the dress?

It's a very nice gesture, I would be doing the same thing if it were my friend......So sorry for your loss, I'm sure it's hard planning this without her. If I think of any other ideas I'll let you know!

Wow, I am SOOOOO sorry for your loss!!!

I recommend using some of the material and lace as a bouquet wrap - your bouquet is something you'll have with you for a large part of the day and during the most important part - the walk down the aisle. It will be like she's walking by your side.

Also, have your ring bearer pillow made from the material.

If there's enough lace and it can work, maybe use it to do an edge on your veil.

You can also have a piece of material embroidered with your monogram or wedding date and have it sewn into your dress.

You can ask a seamstress if they can make a day-of-purse for you from the fabric, or make a 'money bag' for cards out of it.

You can also use the material to cover a cardbox or make a runner that you can have embroidered with your monogram or names to put on your sweetheart table or your cake table.

I hope some of this helps!

I just looked at your dress and saw there was lace on the bodice part. Would there be a way a seamstress could remove THAT lace part and replace the lace from your BFF's dress? If so, that would be an amazing way to incorporate your dress with hers..........

I just wanted to say that I am so sorry for the loss of your BFF. I couldnt even imagine the feeling that would be.........she will be with you in every way on your wedding day

I am such a big baby, FH is on his way home and if we walked in right now he would think something really bad just happend because I cannot stop crying. I cannot thank ya'll enough for your wonderful and creative ideas and for being so kind. I don't have my veil yet so I think I'm going to look into that and def. the bok wrap. I originally was thinking of having a piece of the dress sewn into mine but couldn't come up with how to do that so thanks for the suggestion, I'll have to talk to the seamstress about that. I also love the idea of the chrsitening outfit, maybe I'll save a piece incase we decide to have another baby. Thanks again your kindness has touched my heart. Gosh I miss her so much, the thought of doing this without her is killing me. I know right now all she would be hounding me about if my bachlorette party .

I'm so sorry for your loss You've already gotten a lot of wonderful suggestions, but I just wanted to say that I think it's very touching that you are trying to use her gown in some way.

MY FMIL did this with her dress for her daughter and myself-she had a garter (to keep) made out of it, purses, RB pillow and the flower girl basket was draped in part of her dress. Granted her dress is very yellow now but I am still using the garter.
You can do the same. You can also take some of it and use it to tie up your BOK

Sorry for you loss

i am sooo sorry for your loss and how hard this is for you during this time...

That is soo special to have her wedding dress and how you are trying to incorporate into your wedding day so she will be all around you....

I like the bouquet wrap and maybe a bouquet frame with her picture... i love the hankie idea or take a piece and have embroidered with her name and sewn in the bottom of your dress on the inside...
