What to throw???

Original post by JACSANT

I love the traditonal throwing of rice after the ceremony but my church will not allow it. They wont allow rose petals either, i guess because they dont want to have to clean up. Does anyone know of any party poppers that keep the streamers attatched to the popper after it shoots them out? Any other suggestions of what to throw besides bubbles? Thanks!

I read in a magazine somewhere that you can order butterflies and they come in individual boxes, and then you open the boxes and they fly out into the sky. I will try to find it for you. FM me if you are interested!

the only thing about butterflies is taht they come in these tiny, tiny boxes and half of them are dead, its actually really sad. 3 of my friends did it and half of them didnt fly. I think I am definetly going w/ the streamer wands, they are a good price and would make for a cool photo op.

Do the petals and ignore the church. I know a few people that did it and nobody said anything.

My church won't allow for it either, unless someone picks it up. Maybe if I slip the altar boy a G he'll do it?

I love the butterfly idea also. Someone at work mentioned this to me because I love butterflies and dragonflies.

I've never heard of that...but I know that it is tradition for the bride and groom to walk to the church and all the neighbors come out of their houses or on their balconies and throw flower petals and jordan almonds at them.

I love the butterfly idea, but I've heard similar stories where the butterflies have been dead when people opened the boxes to release them

I would really love to throw rose petals, but my church doesn't allow us to throw anything like that either, so I think we're going to end up with bubbles

I read somewhere about a bride who made small paper airplanes in her wedding colors and had here guests throw them in the air after they kissed and walked down the aisle.

Thanks for all your suggestions guys! Yeah, the butterfly thing is kinda iffy, especially if they are all dead, lol. And thanks for letting me know about the bubble staining, i didnt even think of that! Maybe I'll just ignore the church and just have a few people throw petals, or my favorite, RICE! Rice has a meaning, thats why i love it, its a fertility wish. Thanks again!!

I haven't even thought about this or asked my church what I would be allowed to do but maybe I will do bubbles if they don't allow a lot. I went to a wedding where they did bubbles and it was cute.

i recently read somewhere that the whole idea of the birdseed and rice being harmful is a falasy and does not hurt them at all.

I'm searching around now, some people say use 'ribbon wands'. Not a bad idea, may look cute.

That was going to be my suggestion too....
Great minds........
