My DH and I both grow up in East Northport, we looked at homes in the area and outeast (ridge, middle island, etc.) We ended up buying in East Northport which makes us both really happy.
If we had a lot of money I would want to live in Upper Brookville.
If I didn't work in Queen's I would buy a home in Southhold or Greenport (on the sound or bay)
If we didn't have so many family members on Long Island we would move to Arizona.

After I got married, we decided we wanted to live in Westchester in the best school system we could buy. We married there, I lived there until I was 8, DH's family lives across the water in Rockland County, so Westchester it was. For the schools, beaches, culture, crime, train proximity to manhattan, we looked in Rye, Rye Brook, Armonk and Chappaqua. We really wanted to live in Armonk and Rye Brook but realized it was tougher to afford. I did not want to look anywhere else. DH convinced me to look in Chappqua as he wanted to get out of the city quick. We found our place in Chappaqua and the school system is 28th in the country so mission accomplished! Yipee!

We currently live in Huntington and I love it here.
Other towns I would consider: Lloyd Neck/Lloyd Harbor (even though they're in the same zip code as us), Mill Neck, Centre Island, or Cold Spring Harbor.

I live in S. Bellmore which was our first choice when we were looking. We also liked S.Merrick and Garden City...as other choices. But now after moving to LI and Bellmore, I am very happy with my decision. We liked S.Massapequea and Syosset but both were a little further from NYC than we wanted to go.

I live in Lynbrook now, but I am moving to Bellmore in 3 weeks. I love the area...It is such a nice, peaceful block and everything I need or will need is a short walk or drive from the house. The other areas I would like to live in would be Wantagh, Massapequa, or Oceanside. Scott

We live in Syosset and we couldn't be happier... We are in one of the top school districts on Long island, we live right off the highways, and we live in a great community..

We're happy out in Sayville for now - especially since I work just a few miles away in Bayport
If we win MegaMillions on Friday then DH wants a house on Dune Road (I don't like being so close to losing everything in a hurricane flood!) I'd prefer somewhere on the north fork I think.
Retirement will probably be south - maybe Myrtle Beach, SC - definately off LI where the property tax is cheaper!!!

We bought a house in Commack and we love it here. If we move say in 5-10 years or so we will go further back in our development (bigger houses) or to Smithtown (bigger houses). Both of those areas would be ideal.

We are moving from Bellmore to Seaford and hoping for Massapequa in 3 years! All waterfront so right now we have no land. I want to be waterfront in Massapequa with enough room for an inground pool.

There are many beautiful houses here in Oakland Gardens Queens, as well as Hollis Hills. But they all go in the 600-900k range.

I grew up in Northport, so if i could, i would love to have a house overlooking the harbor or on Waterside...ah, to dream. or i'd take lloyd harbor, huntington bay, centerport. i love the north shore beaches, but there is also something really cute about lindenhurst. my sister lives right on the canal and it is awesome. basically, i just want to always be within 10 minutes from the beach. that's all. give me a little bungalow and i'd call it a day.

We bought our home in Northport a year ago & we are in love with it here!!! If we do ever move, it will just be a few more feet closer to the beach!!!
