One of my fave places was a club in the city called System!!! Does anybody remember it? I could be wrong but I think it was where Plaid (or formerly Spa) is now!!!! There was also another great place on Varick street called the Buddha Bar, also closed now!!



my friend rudy use to be a barback at the buddha bar it was a very cool place

yeah it was also called voodoo and then the opened one in the city where dancetreia was on sat nights

WOW I don't even remember... it could've been CoCo's but it's very possible that it was Metro 700 OR maybe even Sprats (on Merrick though)... Sheesh, never realized how old I was exactly until now... two of these don't even exist anymore, not even sure about Coco's

The Savoy (at the Huntington Hilton)
Malibu (when it was still in Lido Beach)
the OBI (get out of state before it's too late!!!) I loved that place!!!


I loved the Savoy and OBI rocked!!!!

My first club was Club Enigma in Brooklyn.
I think they changed their name to Penache or something like that recently.

Umm in HS we used to go to see shows at spiral and CBGB. I've never been to a bar in long island...You'd never know I was a hofstra student


Sounds like me! I used to go to punk rock dives on LI/NYC like the Angle, PWAC, CBGB, ABC NO RIO, etc. At Hofstra if you don't go to bars people look at you like you are from another planet! One time, as a pre-teen a friend dragged me to Malibu-it was torture!

The Angle/Hotel Lenigrad- that was MY place to be when I was a teenager.. the we went to Some place in Huntington, Area 51? 56? something like that- When I graduated from college I went to Luxe EVERY saturday night for LIR night.


I LIVED at the Angle/Hotel Leningrad when I was in High School--I thought I was so 'alternative' then! What did I know?!?!

The Tunnel in NYC. I think I was 18. I had no clue what to expect. Just for laughs, imagine a really blonde preppy, cheerleader type at the Tunnel. Yep, that's me. Never again!!!

I used to LIVE at PWAC!!!!!!!! I'm so happy to hear someone else who knows what that was !!!!!!!

The first club I went to was the Limelight, it was horrible.

The most fun clubs I went to were Don Hills and Coney Island High.

I had my 11th birthday at a roller disco called KISSES on Queens Blvd in Sunnyside!!!



Did you wear pom-poms on your skates? I had red ones with a bell in the middle
