What was your hall minimum headcount?

Original post by Bridex100

Did your hall go by headcount or total dollars for the room?

One of my friends just got engaged and she is was wondering what the headcounts were for different halls.

Re: What was your hall minimum headcount?

For a Saturday night in October '08, I was told:

175 for The Woodlands

150 for The Royalton.

I noticed that someone who is getting married at The Royalton posted that her minimum is 175. Maybe that's because she's having her ceremony there? I'm getting married at my local church. Or, maybe they just changed the minimum for '08. Head count was definitely a factor in my decision, so I'm glad The Royalton gave me the lower number.

i think each hall has a set fee they want to meet for each night/day.. so the number of people you tell them drives the price.. for example , dropping the price by $5-$10 if you guarantee and extra 25 people.. or making the price higher because you can only guarantee x number...

i recommend that your friend draft a rough guest list to get a number.. you want to low ball it but not too low because thats what they base the price on..

i saw 12 halls before picking the one and thats what i got from it.... if the place has more than one wedding at a time.. then you have to figure if you need the big or smaller room... and then there is a set minimum...

Chateau Briand - Friday Evening, 100 min.

Just wanted to say that it's not so much the reception hall minimum, but the ROOM minimum at each hall. For example, if I wanted the huge room at my RH, the minimum would have been 175 or 200, so we're using one of the smaller rooms. Make sense?

I would advise your friend to just go to the halls that she likes, tell them how many people she expects, UNDERESTIMATE the number, and then they'll show her the rooms that she can book at that particular hall.

Except many halls only hold one event at a time (like mine).

I should have added that the minimum for the Metropolitan CLUB (owned/operated by the same people, but not the Metropolitan) is much lower than what I stated for a Saturday night.
