I don't have anything in mind, well maybe a traditional receiving line. Seems very time consuming.

i def like the idea... i would like to do it, but not sure if fh wants too.... he doesnt believe in the whole 2 becomes 1 kinda thing.... which i can understand from his pov, but i still like the sand thing... jus as a keepsake of the day too ...

I def do not like them....but my best friend just got married and she had some crystal type of half crown thingy on her head--I don't know what it's called but I've attached a pic for your viewing pleasure.
Anyhoot, it definitely looked really pretty on her!
This is NOT what I meant when I said tiara. I love her headband!! Im thinking of doing something similar.

I think a wedding trend that should go away are those huge gigantor limos, like the escalade, hummer, etc. or something ridiculous that has like a hot tub in it. I just think it looks very 'I'm 17 yrs old and going to prom' not a wedding.

Totally agree with you. We're not doing the BOK toss or garter thing...I hated being the single girl dragged up there and I am not gonna do it to my friends.
Also, I really don't want to spend half the wedding walking around talking to everyone. I'd rather be on the dance floor. But I remember my Mom always saying (and it's so old school) 'people will take money out of the card if you don't go over and talk to them.' Ugh

i agree...my mom thought i was going to do that i was like um no thanks mom lol ill see them near me but with their spouses or dates, i think its rude that their dates have to sit w/o them LOL

First Long Sleeves are classy and will never be over...if done right
tiaras are an accessorie that will always exist its like a hair comb or a headband some brides love them some dont
pick ups are the equivalent to the 80s puffy sleeve but they are still around so not over....its over when they are no longer made....
bo-k toss and garter toss...what ever happen to tradition ?
and the brides and groom table will always exist...hello its about them~~!!~~
oh and the bride and groom going under the flowers.....thats something I've heard of but never seen because its just tacky...

A 'pick-up' is literally that, where the fabric is 'picked up' in places on the dress. There are all kinds of dresses like this from big and poofy to more A-line. I'll post a few pictures

I will not be doing the whole garter belt/throwing of the bouquet at the reception either. I don't like it, even when I was single I hated the bouquet throwing at wedding. My opinion of course.

i agree that ppl just always end up getting offended with these threads...BUT personally i havent seen a poofy sleeved dress nor have i seen anyone wearing it in quite a while. I went to kleinfelds which has more dresses in their stores than any other place, and i didnt see one puffy sleeved dress, but even if there are some still around that doesnt categorize it as 'BEING IN' the fact that some are still around and or made isnt the definition of a style being over. Theres things that were done last year and ppl are already over it, its still around but some just categorize it as something they are over.
Also of course the brides and grooms table will exist, but everyone meant they'd rather have a sweetheart table with just the couple sitting at rather than the couple plus their bridal part at one long table-thats what a dais is
