OR, if I HAVE to do an Old Testament, then MAYBE the creation story. That's the only semi-uplifing reading I can find that would deal with love (in some way) that doesn't involve obeying or something weird I don't want read! lol. I just have to stop at eating from the forbidden tree!

You do need one from the Old Testament and one from the New Testament. We are using Tobit and Corinthians (Love is patient).

You do have to pick one of each and it was a pain in the arse cause you've either heard them at every wedding or they are subservient. I ended up with Jeremiah 31:31a, 33-34a & Colossians 3:12-17 Sorry, I forget the exact names so I only have my program to go off of here!
