What will your last name be?

Original post by Bride 05

I really want to keep my last name but my fi is insisting that i take his. This may turn into an ugly battle. What are you ladies doing?

I am taking his last name and it actually isn't going to be changing very much...so I am happy.

Re: What will your last name be?

My last name is identiably Jewish. FH's is identifiably Russian. I am taking his last name and adding my maiden name as a second middle name with NO hyphen. I don't like hyphens. But people constantly mispronounce FH's last name and make him sound like a Vodka.

I am going to hyphenate - I have a pretty rare last name and I don't want to lose it! Our kids will take just his name.

I am in the same situation. I am going to hyphenate as well.

i really want to keep my last name but my soon to be husband will not let me hyphenate it. If i hyphenate it, it will me D'Onofrio-Lamb, if not my last name will be Lamb, which i don't like!

I am really excited about taking FI's last name. I am going to be the next Mrs. Jayne since his mom! FI is the first son (out of 4 to get married! )

I'll loose my italian name also if i don't hyphenate it.

Even though I LOVE my last name and am not so fond of his (sorry Mike) I will be taking his....

taking his... love mine, but i'm traditional and want us to have the same last names once we have kids. will make my maiden name my middle name, likely in place of my 'real' middle name -- ann. I'll probably spell both names out a lot. Not a fan of hyphens myself!

I will be taking his and I can't wait, I love my name but his last name sounds similiar to mine now so it works well!
