My cousin originally had her wedding date set two months after mine, in March '06. She has now pushed up the date to February - the wedding is out of state and I'd need to pay for flight, hotel, etc. I don't know if I can afford it so soon after my wedding. What would you do? Deal with the expense and go with my husband? Go alone? I care about her very much and we were very close when she lived in New York; it would hurt her if I didn't attend.
Thanks for the advice.

honestly, you shoud go. if financially you both cannot afford to go, she should be able to understand that.

We're a little hesitant to dip into what will be our house fund because I might make a habit of it once I started - but it's definitely something to consider if it's just me going...

I think you should go. I wouldn't worry about money because by that time you will have plenty on cash from your wedding.

I haven't asked her. She's never told me either way; I figured that with paying for her own wedding, she may not be able to...

Do you want to be there? If so, then you should go! You'll find a way if its someone you really care about and FH should be there too...he's family now (or will be at that point).

I agree with this advice. I would give her a call and talk to her about candidly. Just ask her if she's coming to yours. if she's not because of $$, then you have the same excuse as she does.
