we had a few of those and we didn't say anything. it's been a month now and most of the non-gifters got us the remainders off our registry. One handed me the card w/ $ last week and another emailed me asking to meet up so he can give me the card w/ the $ (didn't want to mail it and get lost). i honestly cannot say anything to people about this sitch. it's a bit awkward. all i know is that i was a bit thrown off and offended by it. i will remember this for future references. i know, sounds crappy but come onnnnnnnnnnnnn

ITA their time will come....at least give a heads up that you will send a card etc later on and that you do not have it on you

I can't believe what I'm reading!! I don't know what I'd do to be honest...I would feel like 'what CAN I do?' I think I'd be extremely upset but I wouldn't comfront anyone since I don't think I'd get anywhere and their just not worth my aggravation. I would just remember my day as amazing as I hope it will be lol and take the loss... I'm sorry you had to go thru this tho!

That's what I did. Am I hurt? Yes, but I enjoyed my day to the fullest and had a great time. I hope they all enjoyed the free food, drinks and dancing...lol. They are not worth my aggrivation, but they have been deleted from my life.

Re: What would you do?

One of my unlces has skipped out on gifts at two weddings. Now no one expects a hing. Worse part is he constantly feels the need to brag about his money.

I think it's rude not to at least give some type of gift or at least a card but there's nothing you can do but make sure you didn't misplace it.

I agree that at LEAST a $2 card is necessary, even if they can't afford to give a gift! But you also do have to remember that its about having your loved ones there with you, not about the gifts. I wouldn't totally write them out of your life just based on that if they were good friends beforehand. If times really are tough for them, then being supportive is so much better than getting angry with them, that just makes the situation worse.

ETA I know it sucks, we had a few close friends do the same, but we were just happy to have them there with us on the day. Don't let it ruin friendships!

If it was a close friend, I would let it go believe me. These were people who have done this one too many times and it was not forgivable. I learned my lesson. Like a friend of mine told me in advance she could not afford the wedding and asked if I still wanted her there and of course I said yes, but when people do it all the time its like a spit in the face....:(

THIS! Maybe they brought it but it got stolen? That happened to my friend... she noticed a good amount of people didn't give gifts, and then she asked and they said they did! turns out someone at the hall stole $2,000 from the gift table!!

Note to all brides: keep the gift table NEAR YOUR TABLE. Her's was outside the RH and some woman stole $2,000 from her!

Gotcha! Then yes, in that case, they are clearly just not good friends. You should be pissed if they do things like this all the time! I don't know what else to do than what you've already done. It is really rude of them!!!

Yea sadly I knew who the people were going to be as well....

Re: What would you do?

The thing was, they were people I wouldn't have guessed....

My former boss and his wife
A good friend and her husband
DH's good friend and his wife
DH's good friend
Plus a few others

We did get a few HM registry gifts while we were on our HM, like a week after the wedding

What can you do? We might get stuff later since people knew we were going to be traveling for a few weeks. But it is what it is.
