What would you do if you got this type of RSVP card?
I want to send out RSVP cards with the following text:The favour of a handwritten reply is request by October 1.
And the rest of the reply card is blank. I really love this type of RSVP card. I hate the
M____________ with check boxes. I just feel people are getting so darn lazy that they cannot even write their names without a line. If you got this in the mail, would you really know to include the following info: Your name. name of guest, if you were attending or not attending?
Thanks girls for the help.

I got one similar, it didn't itclude the word handwritten, and ya know what? I wrote my own name
It would probably also inspire more people to write a little note on it too! I think it's a nice idea.

Re: What would you do if you got this type of RSVP card?
I did something similar Michele...and it did work out, but there were some people that just wrote their names...and nothing else...I guess that meant they were coming, but we checked anyway.also be sure that you # your cards. We only got one that didn't have anything on it, but we were happy that we did # them!

Michele, I totally agree, I hate the M________ thing too but I just put a blank line. I never fit my entire name on there with that stupid M! Hope it works out for you!

Re: What would you do if you got this type of RSVP card?
Personally, I would know what to write....and if I received a response card like that, I would put exactly what you're looking for. But for some reason I feel some people will get confused...but why do we always have to go with the 'norm'. I would go for it. I mean, I have never been able to fit my entire name on that line, much less mine and my FH's (although my responses will have them). Good luck with it...

Re: What would you do if you got this type of RSVP card?
I am going to do what I want. I figure those who have no clue will not respond even to the 'check box' RSVP cards anyway. I dread this part of the invite process. I just know that I need a pyschic to tell me who is coming and who is not coming.I plan to buy everyone who does not respond an etiquette book for Christmas

Re: What would you do if you got this type of RSVP card?
We did something similiar, but we included a line for # of guests. Some people wrote great notes. Others just wrote their names. And some just wrote a number. It was really all across the board. But the notes made it worth it!
I would maybe take out the 'handwritten' part. I think thats implied and to state it seems demanding.

Re: What would you do if you got this type of RSVP card?
I agree with Lisa T about removing the 'handwritten' part. It is definitely implied. We used regular response cards
(The favour of a reply is requested on or before (insert date)
___ accept with pleasure ____ decline with regret)
And nearly evey single guest included a personal note!
I loved reading them, and being the huge packrat that I am, I saved them. (Much to Patrick's space efficient distaste!!

Re: What would you do if you got this type of RSVP card?
The 'handwritten' reply is what a number of brides on weddingchannel told me to do. Some who didn't do that had guests totally confused by what to use to RSVP. My calligrapher also agreed. To us, it seems like 'duh' to some not so good guests they may think I want a phone call RSVP. That was the other's girls experience was. And honestly my FH has family that sends one invite to his mother and considers 'the whole family' invited. So I need to be very explicated.

Re: What would you do if you got this type of RSVP card?
I'm confused -so you're invites won't include the card to RSVP on? They'd need to supply their own stationary, etc?
If you supply an RSVP card and ask for a reply (on that card) - its self explanatory. We didn't have any guests who didn't use our enclosed cards or who were confused about how to RSVP.
Am I misunderstanding?
If you're not supplying the card, then I can see why you'd need 'handwritten' in there.

Re: What would you do if you got this type of RSVP card?
I AM including an response card and stamped envelope with my invites. The text will read:The favour of a handwritten reply is request by October 1
The rest of the card is blank so that they can write their note.
If I remove the word 'handwritten' I know some of my guests will call us or worse yet, e-mail us. Again, my FH's family literally send one invite to his mom and thinks that means he and I are also invited. They wanted me to do that when I was asking for addresses. So without the word 'handwritten' some people will think I want them to respond any way they feel like it. Does that make sense?

I do think that you need to keep 'handwritten reply' on the card.....!

Re: What would you do if you got this type of RSVP card?
Michele, I've received RSVP cards exactly like the ones you are planning. I don't recall hearing of any friends/coworkers/family being confused by the wording. I think it's perfect the way you described. One friend who requested written RSVPs put a bunch of the response cards in a framed montage at her place card table. It came out very nice. You wouldn't believe how creative people can be in responding to weddings!
It sounds like you've put a lot of thought into this-go for it!!

Re: What would you do if you got this type of RSVP card?
I think you should leave 'handwritten' as it is. We all know that there is a new trend in the RSVP cards where people respond by a little note instead of the traditional check the box. But that doesn't mean that our older relatives know! Mine would be totally confused and my parents would be flooded with phone calls. I really like that idea. I am usually so excited to get the wedding invitations from family and friends that I write something even when all I have to do is check a box
It would be nice to have a little more extra space!By the way Michele, I am about to send you a forum email about Debi!

We usedThe favour of your reply is request by date.
It worked fine. The only trouble I had was with the handwriting of a few guests
. I had numbered the cards so it wasnt a problem overall.
