What would you do if you received a NASTY FM from a vendor that you already gave a deposit to?

Original post by suven

How would you all handle this? The wedding is 11 weeks away. I already forwarded the message to Ron and Liz, but now I am thinking that I should look for a new vendor...

I just don't understand why this has to be a big secret. This experience was true first hand knowledge!

I can't stand all the secrets

It was not my intention to keep anyone in the dark. But, please understand the position that I am in. I already gave this vendor a deposit. My wedding is only 11 weeks from today. I live in NJ and work full-time. Aside from the fact that I don't want to have to lose my deposit, it is going to be EXTREMELY hard for me to replace this vendor on such short notice. I have not been able to get in touch with this company since the FM was sent to me.

The last thing I need to do is publically display the name of the company on this forum. If I do that, I will hurt my chances of pursuing any remedy.

I have already complained to Ron and Liz, and others have FM'd me because they experienced the same thing and also made complaints. So, we are hoping that Ron and Liz may be able to help resolve all of this.

The best advice that I can give is to THOROUGHLY research your vendors. And, don't count on this site as being a good method for research that you can bank on. I learned a very tough lesson: negative posts are removed and brides are even banned for negatively discussing vendors by name. So, if you try to use this site for research, you will almost always get ONE-sided opinions.

Good Luck, everyone!

Suven - sorry for what you are experiencing!

And the last thing you need is people asking you who it was in FM and then publicizing it on the board!!

Girls - show some respect.

Not to bring more rain down upon myself, but I have already received FM's from people actually asking me if they can use my name when they talk to this vendor...AS A BARGAINING TOOL...

So, unfortunately, some people do want the name so that they can make it public...

I can say that I asked who it was...if it's the person I'm using...I think that I have the right to know what's up...

I'm not going to switch vendors, but I would like to know what's going on...

That is horrible that someone would want to use your name as a bargaining tool with the vendor. TACKY !!!!

it's one thing to inquire, but to ask if they can use her name as a bargaining tool is downright TACKY and PATHETIC.

you are correct BUT once someone has the name and then posts it on the boards, that is disrespectful to suven who is trying to be as discrete as possible. RESPECT THAT and move on. there is a reason she does not want to post the name of the vendor.

I agree and I think its very disgusting who ever wanted to use it as a bargining tool but people who WOULD NOT BE SO DISGUSTING and do such things still have a right to know. I feel really bad that she is going through that and its not fair to her , BUT if she didnt want people asking a million questions it should not have even been posted here.

And wc0143 - grow up

I posted because I wanted to know if people thought it was worth cancelling a contract over and loosing a deposit- when I only have 11 weeks to go. I was really only looking for an answer to that question. And, at first, the name of the vendor wasn't such a big deal to everyone.

Again, I really do hope that you can understand my motive for not revealing names...

Hi there Suven,

Just wanted to say that I'm sorry you are having a tough time with a vendor. Since you are getting married on Memorial Day weekend, maybe you won't have as tough a time finding another vendor to replace this one? I would call around anyway, it can't hurt at this point I would think.

I think you should keep your options open. I know every penny counts at this time, but peace of mind is priceless. Call some other vendors and see if they are available, explain the flowers your want and maybe they can e-mail you some examples. In the meantime, speak with your current vendor to find out what's going on and get a feel for the situation. You'll know what to do and will make the right decision.

OMG>> I would totally cancel if any vendor sent me a nasty FM. That is unprofessional..I would either eat the 300 bucks or try and get it back. No vendor should ever get nasty with their clients!!! Im sorry you have to go through this!!

Thanks for the FM suven...I didn't want to be a pain by asking about the secrecy

It is just i am tired of venders being protected. I was under the assumption that you can post
first hand knowledge and the reason why everyone nervous to speak the
truth i just don't understand...

But i am sorry suven, didn't mean to make this a drama..
