We wanted to make something for our guests to show our appreciation for them coming to celebrate with us. And the home brew is one of the many things we love to do together.

Re: what's everyone doing for Favors?

I originally wanted the 'Fall in Love' glass coasters for our favors. But then I decided on doing edible chocolate menus instead of paper ones.
I had my heart set on the coasters, so what I did was I used them as our seating cards. We did labels with the guests name and table and our leaf design and put them on the coasters.
I am thinking of doing coasters too but originally wanted my favors to double as seating cards.... do happen to have a pic of yours... i like this idea!
Thanks!

My FH homebrews too.. more as a hobby than anything else (for about 3 yrs now) - but he was considering doing this too and his best friend/best man offered to help.
How many did you make? How long did it take? Did you give it per person or per couple?

Hi! We are making 1 bottle per person. We drink a lot of microbrews so a lot of the bottles microbreweries use are the same ones you buy a the brew store so we have a bunch saved up from before. Then when we got engaged we kept saving too so that's money saved. Your FI should know which ones work. It's because of the type of bottle caps that you can buy to cap your homebrew. Only certain bottlenecks work.
We're doing a triple filtration so that the brew comes out clearer. In total it sits in the fermenter for 10ish days before we bottle. Then it sits in the bottle for about 30 days I think before it's ready to drink. But that depends on what kind of brew he decides to make. We're making a continental pilsner because it's lighter and we thought it's more across the board for taste buds. It's actually very cost effective and we love it because it comes from US! We're making about 135 beer bottles (so 3 batches) and about 2 dozen Loganberry beverage for the kids. We only have access to one set of fermenting buckets and each bucket after you leave out the nasty stuff at the bottom of the bucket only comes out to roughly 40-45 bottles. So keep that timing in mind if you want to make the beer. We started making them in early May probably so 3 months before our wedding date. The actual brewing part takes the longest; that usually takes about 3 hours, largely unattended. The bottling is super fast and easy with a siphon. You can def help with that part! :)
Labels were super fun to make (I can email you links to label templates and the upc code generator if you want). And we're also attaching a set of chopsticks to the beer bottles (sorta East meets West) that my brother brought back from China. Then we're also attaching custom tags to the bottleneck. One side is the thank you note the other side is the 'escort card' for seating the guests.
We already had all the brewing equipment from before. So all we had to buy were the actual brewing ingredients and bottle caps. So we spent maybe like $90 total? Labels were SUPER cheap off of eBay.
