We are spending $2600 for both and our video and photographer are top notch! One works for the knot and the other is a vendor on here Golden Moments Film. You just need to shop around. How $$ a company is does not necessraily gurantee the quality of their work.

Here is my take. Something is 'too much' if you have to go into hock to pay for it. If you have to charge something and it takes you years to pay off then it is 'too much'. But if you can afford something out right, it is nobody's business what you spend.
Well said!

Re: whats is too MUCH
be careful. many of these price quotes are for smaller packages or no albums, just proofs. some are not, but many are.
i'm spending a lot on photo/video because it is really important to me. i'm scrimping on areas like flowers.
i want top of the line albums and photos, many enlargements, 100 photos in my book, parent albums, fully edited video, etc.
what are YOU looking for? proofs only? or a totally done wedding package? you have to decide what you want before anything else.
don't listen to $3K quotes if you expect the world, and don't listen to $8k quotes if you only want proofs and will do your own album

I spent about $4,500 for both not including the albums - so I would probably add another $500 or so. Your budget seems reasonable.
