Oh ok. neat. I've only been to DC once when i was a kid, so I don't know much of anything. Cool. I will check it out

I would definitely say the Holocaust Memorial Museum. I saw it after it first opened and it was one of the most eye-opening experiences I ever had.

Is that far? We only have a shiort amount of time in DC. We're staying in bethesda for a wedding, so we'll have like maybe 2 half days to explore

It's a neighborhood in the heart of Washington - kinda like the Village in NYC or something. I think the main streets are M through P or something.

Georgetown is cool but definitely more happening at night. Adam's Morgan is very close to Georgetown and also a good nightime spot to hit. Parking is a pain though, and you'll spend $$ no matter what you do, unless you go during the day just to walk around and window shop. Old Town Alexandria is a really quaint place to go to during the day, and you can leave your car in Bethesda and take the metro all the way to King Street (which is a very short walk to the center of Old Town). There's a waterfront area, lots of shops, great places to eat....

I'm trying to convince D about the holocause museum. I love going there. I know that sounds insane. But I think we need those reminders. I think we're going to leave the car at the hotel and take the metro into DC, rather than looking for parking. The good thing about DC is that a lot of suyff is free/cheap. Do they still have those tour buses where you buya ticket and just hop on and off all day>

I'm not sure about that - since I live here I've never done it. But I guess that's no excuse!
Oh, if you like dim sum, go to China Town. It's inexpensive and the Spy Museum is pretty close to there (if I remember right).
I'll keep trying to think of more places....I'm so bored today!

Capital Bldg and Whitehouse were still off limits when FH was there last month.

Jenn, DEFINITELY stop by the holocaust museum. I had taken a class on the Holocaust 2 summers ago, and FH and I took a trip to see the museum --- It's a feeling I can't even describe.

I agree. Also the Iwo Jima statue is a sight to see.

i like the 'fun' smithsonian - the one with all the gems, and the one with Dorothy's slippers, archie bunker's chair, etc.

Don't know which one that is!

I like the fun ones too!!! I really like the Air and Space one.

The Vietnam memorial- I can't put into words the effect that seeing all thoses names on the black marble had on me. So simple, yet so powerful.
