What's something that legal, that you think should be illegal?
I know it's easy for me to say b/c I'm not a smoker, but I LOVE the smoking ban in restaraunts. I wish all public smoking were completely illegal.
Also spandex!

this sound so prude, but i hate the fact that our roads allow mini coopers to travel along side hummers and ford excursions. i just think there should be some kind of safety law about the size of cars people can buy.

I LOVE small cars. I have a Bug, if I didn't have a bug, it would be a miata or a mini. I'm a small girl.
I think it's the SUV's that should be outlawed. I can't even get off my driveway, or turna t my corner because I can't see. These people are not hauling lumber..there's just no need to take up that much space or pollute that much!

This may be weird... but I always say cars should be MADE to only be able to go up to 65 mph (maybe 70 tops). That way people CAN'T speed!!
I looooove the smoking ban!!!
I think car size should be restricted too... I was PLOWED by an excursion, and luckily I have a rav 4. any smaller car would have been totally crushed!
and the large hum v's should be illegal in urban areas. There is no need for them here!

I think that all drivers should be road tested every time we renew our licenses.
personally I think it should happen every 5 years once you reach 65, but many would consider that agism.

tracy, I wa sin an accident where a honda made a blind left on NORTHER BOULEVARD of all palces. I was in the right lane, and atruck was in the elft lane turning, she dind't see me and I didn't see her until I plowed into her passneger door. She had her 14 year old daughter in the passenger seat. Luckily I was the only one hurt..but I was so scared for the adughter..first because the mother was driving like a moron with her kid in the car, but I was in a beetle..what if I had been in a much larger car?
I just realized, SHE drove like a moron, I got injuries tat ahve totally changed my life nad my car has $8K in damage..and she crunched a door and a fender on a stupid honda...geez... dumb woman..grrr

I agree with this. and the big car thing. My father & DH says all the time that suvs & pick ups should require a comercial license & not be allowed on raods that trucks aren't allowed on ( like state parkways)

I'm a smoker and I LOVE that we can't smoke inside resturants/bars...I hated that you could smoke...having to go outside to light up makes me smoke alot less then if I could smoke isnide...yes I know I should just quit...but at least I'm not smoking a pack when I go out to bars/resturants now...I'm working on quitting...its easier SAID then done...

I agree with the smoking ban and I also was a smoker.
And I really would love some sort of restriction on the SUVs. Two months before my wedding some tiny 4 foot tall little moron lady driving a humungous F350 plowed into my poor little Jetta. All because she couldn't handle staying in her own lane while making a turn so she figured she could just hog my lane too if she needed it. Plus -- sorry to offend any SUV drivers (this is not directed at all of you obviously) but man, some of you can't park those things to save your life!! I go to the mall and count the SUVs that are parked like SLOBS in the slots... either preventing other people from parking next to them or making it extremely difficult to park there. Inevitably 90% of the SUVs are parked BADLY. If you can't park it, DON'T DRIVE IT. If you can't DRIVE it, don't BUY IT.
Anyway, my ideal law would be to ban SUVs from the left lane... that way normal sized cars can have at least one lane where they can see the traffic ahead of them. Either that or you should maybe have to pass an additional driving to test to qualify you as capable of driving an SUV safely.

It's things like this thread that can get laws changed! We should try to do SOMETHING!!! SUV's and oversized vehicles are hurting lots of people!

I actually thought not many peopel felt this way, since SO many people own SUVs.

I HATE SUV's!
Like I said, that many people can't be hauling lumber off road or something in NYC. COME ON NOW.
And I see all of these little tiny sorority girls at school in these HUGE cars and it takes them 25 minutes to get into the spot, and they take up two of them of course. UGH.
I'm a small car person..takes up less space, less gas, etc. Plus I look ridiculous driving a big car. I was driivng my mom's Buick once and my FH just kept laughing at me

I was walking to the subway today and parked in a row were a Ford F250 and a Ford F350!! They were not commercial vehicles (at least they were not labled as so) I even said out loud to my DH: 'What does a person need that sized truck for???'
ETA: 'IN THE CITY??!'

I don't even count my Rav4 as an SUV. I think that they shouldn't be made bigger than a rav4. The people behind me can still see ahead of me, it doesn't take up more parking space than a car, and it drives just like a car.
I had rented a car when i was in my accident. They gave me an Explorer and I had to return it because it was impossible for me to drive.

I was in Roosevelt Field one day and there was this skinny guy walking toward me wearing spandex pants. I looked at him like he was crazy when I noticed his...you know what...just...there! It's not like I was looking for it or anything! It's just....spandex shows everything!!!!
