I promised her that after my wedding I would send her pics of me wearing her veil and then pass it on to another bride on the weddingchannel board, under the condition they do the same. And after my wedding that's what I did. Veil is now with bride #4.

wow!!! I am so happy that it became a tradition...I remember when that bride did that!!!

Hmmmmm! Here are three that come to mind.

1. When I was in high school, I really wanted to see Madonna in concert. Unfortunately, I was in school when the tickets went on sale. My mother waited in line for hours for me and got us the tickets!!!

2. About two years ago, I got a flat tire on my car. I did not have my cell phone on me, any money or ATM cards. A stranger in a pick up truck changed it for me for free.

3. When I was in high school, my parents refused to buy me a new car. They forced me to drive this station wagon that I despised. They wanted me in something big and safe. The deal was that when I graduated college, my dad would buy me any car that I wanted. Obviously, they created this huge aversion to big cars. In my junior year of college, my dad got me a red BMW Roadster. When the lease ran out, my father bought me a red Porsche Boxster. I can't imagine ever selling it!!!

Re: whats the nicest thing anyone has done for you?

OK, well, I can't think of these huge overwhelming things, but i can think of a few amazing things.
1. When I was in college, I had a kitten that was incredibly ill and needed to be put to sleep. No one would come with me to the vet to do it and I was so upset, crying and sad. Some how I bumped into this guy from high school and when he asked me what was wrong, he told me he would come with me. I never stopped appreciating that.

2. My parents have helped JT and I out in more ways than they can possibly imagine. When we first moved in together in MA, they came up and stocked our house with food and gave us our first few months rent so that we could get ourselves on our feet. They refused to take any of the money back. That, to me, was amazing. And now, they continue to give and give and give. They have given us, ontop of the money for our wedding, a free place to live as long as we need it. I don't know how I will ever repay what they have given us. I feel so blessed to have them.

3. When I was in grad school, JT had just started a new job and I broke my ankle in the middle of my department at school. Well, TONS of people passed me without helping me (I was in the stairwell and people walked past me ). JT dropped everything he was doing and came and carried me to the car to take me to the emergency room.

I know I have more. I dont' know why I can't think.

I have alot, but my fav is:

A friend slept on the floor with me for a few days, in the hospital when my dad had a heart attack.

That friend, became my husband.

After I had my car accident, a friend of mine showed up in the emergency room, took me to my dr's appointments, and chauffered me everywhere in my wheelchair !!
HE also became my husband.

There are so many by friends, family and my students but like Moira I will talk about a stranger.

One day I was driving my car, it was raining really badly. I had told DH 2 days prior that I thought the alternator or battery were going. He said I was being paranoid. Well, my car went dead in the middle of 110 in a rain storm. I called my Mom but she was about half hour away and I called police since I was blocking a lane. In the 20 minute wait a nice man pulled up infront of me and backed his car to mine. Got out in the rain storm in his nice suit and asked me what was wrong. He jumped my car and it took quite some time since it was the alternator. He was in the rain with no coat and wouldn't let me get out of the car because it was too dangerous and it was raining. I only had $20 on me. I offered it to him he said no, I begged him to take it to at least pay for the dry cleaning that his suit would definitely need. He left before I could get his name. I am truly grateful too him.

Another one for me was. I was going to grad school at COlumbia and i left my pocketbook in one of my classes. By the time i realized this ...i ran back and it was GONE!!!!
The problem was...i had no money, no credit cards..NOTHING! And i lived in LI. I had no way of getting out. I called my mom in Hauppauge to come pick me up at 9 pm!
WHen i got home there was a message from a girl who found my pocketbook!.
I got everything back...
Personally i am a lucky person in general...I MUST have a Guardian Angel

Re: whats the nicest thing anyone has done for you?

My grandfather died 10 years ago this coming March. We were very close, but we also fought a lot when I was younger (he lived in Florida, so we didn't see each other often). Everyone has told me that I'm a clone of him in so many ways. His death hit me incredibly hard. When my grandmother came up from Florida for the funeral, she brought some things of my grandfather's with her. She gave each family member a piece of jewelry that he had wanted them each to have and had directed her to give before he died. Right before the funeral, my grandmother pulled me aside and told me that my grandfather loved me very much and that he wanted me to have something that was very special to him. With that, she pulled out a box with my grandfather's wedding band and told me that of all of his family, he wanted me to have his wedding band. My grandparents had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary a few months before he died, and it was the most touching moment of my life. That he thought so much of me to pass down his wedding ring to me, rather than any of the males in his family, means so very much to me.

I used to wear it on a chain around my neck since the ring is too big to wear on my finger.

At my wedding ceremony, FH will be slipping my grandfather's ring on my finger rather than the one I will wear every day. Also, without even realizing it, FH proposed to me on the anniversary of my grandfather's death. It seems fitting that he was part of that day and will be part of my wedding day as well.

I just wanted to add that I just asked JT and his friends this question and they are having SUCH A HARD TIME ANSWERING! JT said his surprise party I threw for him a few weeks ago was one of the nicest things, and then to kiss some more butt he added me saying yes to marry him, WISE ASS But it's really hard to think of an answer!

My dad saved my life by donating blood to me when I was a very sick preemie baby

2 years ago - in the weeks before surgery that I had to have for suspected breast cancer (thank g-d it wasn't) - my FH (then my BF) was by my side the whole time - called in sick to work so many times when I was so depressed that I couldn't get off the couch and was such a calming person - never got freaked out. I found out about a year later that he had been pouring out his feelings to one of his guy friends and was so scared - yet he never showed me this side - his friend told me this - not him.

After the surgery - when I was back home and repulsed with how my body looked (stiches and stuff) - he helped me shower and wash my hair when I wasn't capable of doing it myself and didn't even act grossed out at how I looked!

I guess this is why I am marrying this man!

Re: whats the nicest thing anyone has done for you?

When I was about 6 years old we went to see the lighting of the Christmas tree and there was literally a deadly situation. It got so crowded, people were trampling each other. My mom had me, my sister who was 2 and in a stroller and my grandmother. We were all gettting separated and crushed. This man from out of no where told my mom that he would put me on his shoulders and carry me through. That if we got out he would meet my mother at radio city. It was so bad that my mother had to trust him with my life. A complete stranger. He held me on his shoulders, carried me out, it was about an hour before we got out, he got pushed, hit and everything else but never put me down until we were safely out. I am convinced he saved my life and I so wish I could find him again!

Also when my mothers fiance passed away last April my dh went on a hunt for his son. He hadnt dealt with his father in 20 years but we needed his permission to cremate him since he was next of kin. My dh (who is also my best friend) went on a search for him and even registered at usa search to find him. He finally did and tried his best to get him to do the right thing. His efforts I will never forget!!!!!! I love him so much.

It was a birthday of mine. A guy I was dating didn't do anything for me. No cards, flowers NOTHING. I was so upset and this young kid that I was working with went out and bought me a cd during his break. It was so sweet because I didn't think anyone could see how upset I was. I cried because of happiness.
