I have a jewlery cleaner I forget the name, but it's in a red container. I bought it at Target. All I do is just drop my rings in there usually while doing my make up or hair, take them out give them a scrub with the brush it comes with, rinse it off, dry it, and viola, my ring sparkles like nothing else!

My ring is also white gold

I have the red container too. I think it's called connesuiers (sp?). I got it at BB&B for like $3.

Thanks girls! There's a black speck on the underside of the diamond surface that wasn't there before. Is it most likely dirt?

That's the one I have...

I got it from my jeweler and he said it's the best cleaner...

I've heard that you can use windex or soapy warm water. You should scrub it a little bit with a toothbrush too.

My jeweler told me 3 parts warm water, one part ammonia, works beautifully EVERY time...yeah black speck is probably dirt---I notice dthat on mine the other day and just took a toothbrush and water and cleaned it up!

Jewerlers use steam to clean rings.

I adapted for a 'home' friendly version.

I boiled water and put my ring on top of the steam. It worked great!!!

Otherwise, jewerlers will tell you to boil water in a boil in the microwave. Remove the bowl of the microwave and put the ring in the water. I personally don't want to do that.

I will 'safer' just using the steam.

You didn't recently have it sized or anything where the ring was not in your possession for any amount of time did you??? My first e-ring (from my first engagement) had to be re-sized, when it came back, there was a black speck that never came off...and hadn't been there before...the jewelry store SWORE it had always been there, but we knew it hadn't. (To this day I take that as a sign that it was doomed) The stone had either been swapped OR the 'plug' came out of it...some jewelry stores will sell diamonds that have flaws/holes that are 'plugged' but the 'plug' can come out with cleaning over time.

I let my ring soak in ivory dish soap and warm water for 10 minutes, then scrub with a toothbrush, rinse and SPARKLY! It works really really well.

I've also heard the 3 parts water to 1 part ammonia, let it soak, toothbrush, rinse and SPARKLY! [from Martha Stewart]
