My first wedding was a disaster, I should have taken the signs years ago. It is easier to say what didn't go wrong. My mother was very controlling and made dealing with her ex, my dad a nightmare. She wanted exactly even for her, my dad and FMIL. When I suggested my dad sit at the end, cause he was walking me down and his wife next to him, she freaked. I told her the priest said that was suppose to be how it is, she ripped the priest up. She then showed up late for the church and made a huge scene that her boutique was missing. The band member's brother had a massive stroke b4 the ceremony so the band was terrible, he was also my ex's good friend. The photography was slightly electrocuted speaking on the phone, since it was storming so bad. The storm caused power outages also. The videographer was trying to pick me up all night. For the finale, my side of the family=mom, stepdad, brother-etc got into a huge fist fight with ex's family-mom, dad, aunt etc. 9 cop cars were called and my mom and sister's boyfriend at the time were stabbed and ended up in the er. It was terrible-glass was flying and silverware was tossed. It was uglly. I was held down in the bathroom-to not get involved-so my dress was destroyed too. I had laryngitis for my honeymoon and took up smoking again.

I was at a wedding where the bride fell of the chair during the horah (it was a jewish wedding obviously)

Not quite as bad as some of these...

At my cousin's wedding, one of the guests took the DJ's mic and proposed to his girlfriend. Talk about stealing the bride and groom's thunder!

I would be irritated, but I'm sure that all the guests were thinking, 'what an idiot!'

I went to a wedding a few years ago where the bride (and almost all the guests) were an hour and 45 minutes late. Turns out the bride started calling people when the hair salon she went to that morning wouldn't do her hair until all their appointments were done -- because she was a walk-in and walk-in's have to wait (who does that
? make a freakin appt!) She finally arrived at the church and the minister, who she met all of one time, had such a thick accent that almost no one could understand him. But the bride could and she repeated his very poor English WORD FOR WORD during the vows. 'Ehh you a take 'groom's name' to ehh have ehh hold ehh leave (live)...' I am not kidding. The bride had no make-up on (said she didn't have time). She didn't know that the reception hall (local, budget place) had to be decorated by HER the day before so we walked in there and there were 15 bare, ugly tables. No table covers, no cp's.The tables looked like they had been thrown together with spare plywood. So someone runs to the store and buys plastic tablecloths which is better than nothing, The cocktail hour consisted of a box of ritz crackers and some cheese -- for 100 people. But the drinks were plentiful -- the groom made sure of that. The groomsmen all had on tuxes that were at least 4 sizes too big because and I qoute, 'They wanted to look gangsta' ' The dancefloor was the size of a postage stamp and people tried to 'freak it' right in front of the children -- including the bride's. To top it off, one of the BM's loudly exclaimed that her wedding would be nothing like this one. I couldn't get out of there fast enough.

It was actually an interfaith wedding and she's not jewish so she said she didn't belong up their and the chair projected her out of it, lol. I'm thinking of attaching a seatbelt to my chair.

OMG thank you for bumping this thread!!! It made my train ride home from the city extremely entertaining! People must have thought I was crazy because I would randomly burst out laughing!

I am a very anxious person, but I just keep telling myself that my guests will behave. I know my friends and family and I can't imagine them doing most of this stuff.

Hopefully everything else will fall into place without any major mishaps.

Well I have a huge family and have been to tons of weddings so here are my top stories...

1. My uncle ended up punching out one of the groomsmen in the pool which was in the middle of the hall bc he was hitting on his wife and stuff

2. My cousins wedding video cleary showed one of the BM's was not wearing underwear during the bo-k toss

3. At a friends wedding one of the BM's got thrown out of the wedding party while they were taking pictures all because she was wearing the wrong shoes

4. At another cousins wedding the hummer limo came to pick us up and it had no air conditioning...we were in AZ in Oct in a black hummer limo and we were sweltering!! My uncle opened the window to get some air and the driver yelled at him that he let all the cold air out. After the church the BP was looking for the hummer (cant miss the damn thing) but it never came back to pick us up!!! We all had to hitch a ride to the RH!!

At FSIL's wedding a few years ago, one of the BM's was tackled by a guest during the bo-k toss. They went flying and the guest ended up grabbing it and ended up ripping the strap to her dress.

it's kind of crazy to realize these stories 1) actually happened, 2) happened at 'real weddings' and 3) happened to people you girls actually know!

i guess they are more common than you would think!

i cant believe thatt--- i would be soo pissedddd if i were the bride-

When I was single I went to a wedding with a co-worker a few years ago (it was a good friend of his from childhood that was getting married)

I didnt know anyone so I was kinda shy but by the end of the night I felt comfortable enough to get up and dance with some of the girls and bridesmaids.......only to have the GROOM (co-workers friend) completely trashed and come up to me and start ...........I kid you NOT..........'humping' my butt and leg in what I guess he thought was dancing, but it was so aggressive and so close that for a split second I could feel his lil wee-wee and lemme tell you girls he was ummmm.....happy. I was so shocked and so disgusted at the same time, I Iliterally froze on the dance floor!! I had to check twice to make sure it was the groom behind me and not some groomsmen or something!

The sad part about the whole thing is the bride was just as trashed as the groom , and was off somewhere not even noticing what he was doing!!!

I still dont know to this day if their still married....I gotta ask !

OMG...these are so awful but so funny!

I have a few stories:

One wedding I was at...the best man gave a speech about how FH didnt drink and was a goody goody and one day they tied him up to a chair and put him in the back of a van and went to an icecream store!? It was bizarre!

I heard about someone who got married on the day of Hurricane Gloria (I think it was that hurricane) and there was no power, no lights, no dj, nothing. I think they ended up cancelling and rescheduling!

Also, I watched a videographer's tape one day and a GM stepped on the BM dress and they both tripped...as they were being annouced!

OH and one more! Save the best for last....my friend's cousins wedding in Ohio..at a hall...nothing special. At the end of the night the Bride and Bridesmaid sat a table, opened every card and added up the total amount of $$$ on their cell phone and kept shouting out how much money they were up to!!! Guests were still there!

I went to a wedding where the bride was dancing on the dance floor and one of her cousins knocked her down....and she tore her ACL right there. She couldn't stand up the rest of the night so they brought two chairs out in the middle of the dance floor for the bride and groom. They had to dance on the chairs the rest of the night (there were still several hours left)

I was also at a wedding that the groom got so trashed that they couldn't find him because he was throwing up in the bathroom. He stumbled out for the bouquet/garter toss, they resumed puking. The bride was crying at the end of the night.

I also just this weekend heard about a wedding where, i kid you not, 3 out of 5 people got food poisoning from the food. I think this one is my biggest nightmare.

I went to a wedding where the FOB gave a speech about his daughter, son in law and 'eating beaver'

not only that, they served fried chicken...on styrofoam plates with plastic silverware and cups. The also had a keg, and their 'MC' used a karaoke machine as the source of music, so every song that was played you could see the words scrolling across the blue monitor!
