Sometimes I am amazed by how self-centered and caught up in themselves brides can get.
I don't mean to pick on anyone in particular here, but let me give you some examples of what bugs me:
'A relative bought me (something relatively trivial to use at the wedding) and I hate it! I'm not going to use it!' and then people back her up and tell her to tell the person to return it, or not to use it at the wedding.
(To me, that's so ungrateful. Someone was trying to do something nice and meaningful for you. Suck it up and use it.)
'I don't want anyone standing up for the bridal party when they walk down the aisle-- just for ME!'
(Ugh. Who are you, the Queen of England?)
'How dare my cousin plan her wedding for the same month as mine?'
(Grow up.)
There are so many other examples, but I'll quit there.
I know this is our 'Big Day' and all, but I think there's a line... it's one thing to want things to be wonderful, and another to insist that everything must be perfect and must all center around us and our every whim.
I wanna meet some more laid back brides who just want everyone to have a good time and find that more important than whether the MOH wants to wear an ugly necklace, or whether the linens match the flowers...
So, who are you, non-self-centered brides? Come out of the woodwork and tell me about yourselves.

Re: What's with all the 'ME, ME, ME' stuff?
i agree with you in some part.. some of the little stuff.. if its not so bad then just use it and it becomes sentimental of who got it for you.. but if its something that you had a specific thing in mind.. then you should not feel guilted into keeping it and i think the best thing is to say ' I already bought my 'X' months ago.., but its so nice you thought of me'

Lisa T - I agree, I think we come here to vent so that the rest of the world doesn't thin we've gone crazy.

I am a past purple/blue/orange/red/black haired girl too- I didn't let it get to me either. I was one of those brides that did not make their BMs wear coordinating shoes- or hair styles- or jewelry. I just really planned it like I plan a dinner party at my house knowing that if you give people good food and you have good music and the right people at the right tables you'll have a great party.. and it's just a party! Nothing more, nothing less. I concentrated on my relationship with my now DH- how to show him how much I love him everyday so he never, ever feels taken for granted. I thought that was more important than making sure breath mints were in the ladies bathroom! But that's just me- I can't deal with that stuff- I let my Mom become Momzilla... AND SHE WAS!

I think it's very diffiuclt to plan such a huge event without being stressed. I become very nasty when dealing with stressful situations. However I thought I was going to be the relaxed bride..and I am to a point. We just started planning in Jan and our wedding is in July. (It's 50 people and on a Friday afternoon no BP) So thus far I think I have been relaxed but who knows what will happen as that countdown gets smaller. I think FH also has alot to do with the stress levels. My FH has not helped at all. He's didn't even register with me,...which is fine I went with my girlfriend. Regardless of the size of your wedding it will be alot of work, not matter how realxed you think you are at first. sometimes I lay awake at night wondering if everything will turn out okay. I mean let's face it you will remember this day for the rest of your life!! But LIW is the best place to vent, and complain and be all about me me me!!
