My FH likes New York, New York as a last song...but I want something that has more significance to us or our guests...something very us or that says thanks to our family and friends....but definitely upbeat.
Any ideas?

We're having the last song from the movie 'Grease', 'We Go Together.' I really wanted the classic, 'Last Dance,' but my fi said that was cheesy and we're having a film themed wedding. So our DJ, Absolute (love them!!), suggested that...and we looved that idea!

This is a good question. Like tbtmickey I was thinking of Donna Summer's 'Last Dance' but it does seem a bit over done so I don't know. . . . .

Some other options: 'Hit the Road Jack' 'Closing Time'-Semi Sonic 'Goodnight Sweetheart'-Sha Na Na 'Oh What a Night' You could have your song played again. I don't know yet what ours will be.

We're using 'American Pie' by Don McLean. Definately not your traditional last dance song...but we always play that song last at parties and its always the one that everyone joins in singing along with--we thought it'd be a great way to end the night!

Hope you had the time of your life by greenday they played it in the last episode of seinfeld...we love that song and have already decided that is how the wedding will end.

my FSIL had 'Had the Time of my Life' from dirty danicing. I think I wanna do that...I already had 'Last Dance'for my sweet 16..so I wanna pick a different song

That's what we used. Not only is it one of my favorite movies/songs... but it also has sentimental value with my dad.
When I was younger, whenever he would pick me up to see me for the weekend, he would stand at one end of the sidewalk and i would run and he would lift me like in the movie.
We tried to do it at the wedding, but i didn't make it quite as high as i did when i was 6
