My FH likes New York, New York as a last song...but I want something that has more significance to us or our guests...something very us or that says thanks to our family and friends....but definitely upbeat.
Any ideas?

My band planned on playing 'beautiful day' by U2 - and at the last minute, my husband went to them and told them to play 'Laid' by James. The lyrics are totally inappropriate for a wedding, but you wouldn't know that unless you read them. The song is so awesome though that when they started playing the first few notes, our guests (and ourselves) went crazy (maybe you would have to be a boardy barn go-er at some point to really appreciate it) and during the song, i looked around us and everyone was in a circle JUMPING up and down to the song. Literally - my aunts, my uncles, cousins, our friends - everyone. It was SO much fun. And, I swear, our wedding was a classy vineyard wedding - but it was so much fun, it was probably the best part of the night.

We might use 'in the Midnight Hour' Our wedding reception actually ends at midnight, so it's very fitting.

our family is hispanic--and about 70% of the guests at our wedding will be puerto rican (both FH and i are 1/2 puerto rican)--and therfore we wanted to end the night with something that represents our culture and was kind of upbeat as we plan on continuing the party at a hotel bar afterwards.
therefore our last song will probably be Marc Anthony's 'Preciosa'....if you are puerto rican--you TOTALLY get that song choice!!! lol

We're using 'American Pie' by Don McLean. Definately not your traditional last dance song...but we always play that song last at parties and its always the one that everyone joins in singing along with--we thought it'd be a great way to end the night!

Al you girls have me thinking I should add 'The Time of My Life' before 'The Wonder of You'. My FH sings that to me sometimes to make me laugh, so it would be extra meaningful... hmmmm....

Orignally, it was New York, New York. However, everyone was having such a good time that it ended up being Golddigger by Kanye West.
