He's got 4 neices & nephews. One will be 9 at the time of the wedding. The others 3, 2 and 1. I said no kids. Which if I'm saying that, then I'm excluding my own cousin (which she'll be 11), but I always said no kids. He's also got cousins who 2 of them will be 18 at the time of the wedding, and one will be 15/16.
NONE of the kids are in our BP. We are not doing a FG & RB.
I only have 1 child on my side, and I said I'd say no to her to have the adult reception I always wanted.
He can't decide.
But what's your look on it?
((The FH will be reading this! LOL his first REAL post he'll be reading! haha))

Re: What's your opinion ...
I'm lucky we don't have many kids at in our family - yet. FH has 8 nephews and 1 neice. There's also a cousin that's 11 - those are the only kids coming. Makes it easy since there are ten total and they are all cousins. His neice is a junior bridesmaid but the rest of them aren't in the wedding - there's too many nephews.... but since only 1 neice I could have her without any hard feelings...

Re: What's your opinion ...
i would say no kids. most parents probably want to leave their kids at home anyway and have a night out. even if the children are part of the bridal party maybe they can be there for the ceremony and leave for the reception. i had the same problem with my FH and him wanting kids-but we agreed on 18 and up-the only two kids that are going to be there are the ring bearer and the flower girl-and they are our kids and everyone that we have that would/could watch them will be at our wedding so they kinda have to be there for the reception.

I don't want them.
They're stinky, smelly, and kids today have no discipline.
Somewhat kidding but no kids at the wedding for me...

Re: What's your opinion ...
we're having about 12 kids, aged 5-12 and then another 10 kids between 17-22
i have no reason not to have them, they are our nieces and nephews and we want them to be a part of our day

Re: What's your opinion ...
we werent going to have anyone under 16. Then i realized if i do that none of my cousins will be able to come because their babysitter is my other cousin who will be invited. so since its only like 7 kids we figured we would deal.

we don't have a ton of kids anymore, maybe 10 altogether, but they are invited. It wouldn't be a family event without them.
i TOTALLY agree - they are part of our family and should enjoy a family 'affair'

Re: What's your opinion ...
bumping this thread... I am dealing with this issue right now and it's causing all types of drama that I don't need. We chose to not have kids at the wedding, with a couple of exceptions, the RB and three first cousins (ages 9-13).
I received that RSVP with 2 more people added than were invited, and this has spiraled into a very uncomfortable situation for me
oops, just realized this is on the 08 board, sorry about that!

We are having kids.....there is no way we couldn't. FH has 7 neices and nephews that we are close with and I have a cousin. At first 4 of them were in our BP, now we put all 7 in. But they are part of the family and should be there.

Re: What's your opinion ...
i set my foot DOWN in this department when i got married.... i did not want any kids there-theres so many kids in my family n dh's, that i didnt want 50 kids on the dancefloor, ppl fallin over them, etc...
i also dont think its really a place for kids-at a wedding. we had our flowergirls-dh's nieces-and they went home right after the first dance-that i didtn mind
his family pushed n pushed-so i gave it and let the first cousins on his side come-they were 6 and 13-and they behaved rather well-but they also went home early
i think its ridiculous the amount you have to pay for kids these days-for them to eat chicken fingers.???
i know when i have kids-i would not want to brign them to a wedding-i want to enjoy myself.
i know ppl got mad-but oh well-they didnt pay for my wedding.
n tahts that

Re: What's your opinion ...
I can't imagine not having kids at my wedding. Our families are huge and the kids all bring us together and are the heart of the families. We see them as a regular guest....i love when the kids get out on the dance floor lol.

Re: What's your opinion ...
It wasn't really an issue for me - those who know me know that I prefer a kid-free environment - but of course I have FGs and RB. There aren't too many other kids in the family, my two cousins and they're old enough to behave themselves - but their parents may decide not to bring them, and to just enjoy themselves. I'm kinda hoping that happens, but if it doesn't, it's all good
