When brides wear ivory...

When should you keep your dress color in mind?

FG dress
Tuxes
Veil
Shoes
Undergarments?

Anything else?

TIA

I always carry my swatch around. I feel like everyone needs to see it, just in case.

I was only concerned with the above. I didn't have a FG and I wasn't going to put the groomsmen in ivory shirts. And my dress didn't look dirty next to everyone in the pictures.

That's good to know because I wanted to do white shirts for the GM but I got nervous when other girl's mentioned they thought it would look weird in photos. Since you've done it, I can go back to white

It's definitely a common fear but I really don't see the difference in my pictures, especially in our outdoor shots.

Re: When brides wear ivory...

I went to a lesbian wedding and one bride had a white dress the other had an ivory one. White can make off white appear dirty or dull. So I would suggest your FH and the gm wear off white shirts.

I really think it's personal preference. I knew that I wouldn't be spending loads of time with our GMs (I didn't even put a picture of the GMs with me in our album) and being next to DH, I really didn't see my gown as looking dull. I do understand brides feeling comfortable choosing ivory shirts for the men when their gowns are ivory.

Re: When brides wear ivory...

I am using my sister's catheral veil that is in white. Her gown was ivory also. It didn't look funny at all. When I tried on a veil it was also white. The guys shirts are going to be white, nobody will know the difference. I do want the FG's to be in ivory.

Re: When brides wear ivory...

just b/c i'm wearing ivory, i don't think the gm's need to. they will be in white and i'll try to find a fg dress thats close enough to mine, but i'm not stressing over that.

as far as undergarments, my bra will most likely be white, cream if i need it.

veil will be ivory, but i'll order that once my dress comes in

Your undergarments will normally be white they won't show through so they don't have to be ivory.

Typically the flower girl dress would match the color of your dress. The groom should match you with ivory color in his vest shirt and tie the other guys typically match the bridesmaid dress to differentiate who is the groom and who is not. Your shoes should be ivory like your dress along with your veil. Your tiarra if you are wearing one will depend on the kind of beading and threading in the dress ex. If there is gold threading in the dress and crystals then the tiarra can be gold with crystals. Hope that helps

Re: When brides wear ivory...

You also need to bring your color swatch of wedding dress, BM, etc.... for your FLOWER selection.

Re: When brides wear ivory...

everything else should be ivory or your dress will not look good. The men must wear ivory shirts, fh dress ivory, fg basket ivory......if you put your ivory viel up against a white shirt then you will see .

It could also be though, b/c your dress was lace Mel...it may look different when you put ivory satin up against stark white...

just a guess, but I think, like you said, it should be taken on a case by case thing based on personal preference.

also, ask your photog...they've probably seen it all and can tell you.
