I think I have about 9 months & 3 weeks until the wedding....I'll make a guess that the shower will be 2 months before in late September or October - FMIL wants to start getting us stuff soon - I think she is hinting that she wants us to start registering....is it to early to register in March/April? I don't want to do it too early....

Re: When did you register?
I have not even started registering yet and my wedding is less than 9 months away which means my shower is probably around 6 or 7 months away.... I should really get a move on it!!!!! I dont even know where to begin!

Re: When did you register?
I registered like a year ahead of time. Over the months, I had to change a lot of things...but it was actually fun! If you don't mind updating it once in a while, you can register now. My MIL was the same way, she wanted to get the best stuff before everyone else have fun!

Re: When did you register?
We registered before our engagment party almost a year ago. So we've been registered for almost a year before our wedding! Now at this point i do have to go back and make sure things haven't been discontinued, but if she wants to start buying you things, and you stay on top of it, why not register?

Do it over the summer. You have plenty of time

Things will get discontinued and inventory will change regardless. The earlier you register, the more the chance of change. You can still register as early as you want, but just keep in mind than no matter how soon or late you do it, you should definitely keep an eye on it until at least when your shower invites go out so you can be sure that everything on it/them is up to date so that it's accurate for your guests.

Re: When did you register?
We did it about a year earlier mostly b/c of engagement presents and such.........most of the stores have a program where you get a percentage back from everything that is purchased on your registry so you might as well take advantage of it.
Also, it takes a while to finish it up and remember everything you want to add. I never imagined it would be such a pain in the A.
Let me know if you need help!

Re: When did you register?
I registered once I got engaged because people kepted asking me where I registered becuase they wanted to give me an engagement gift. My opinion it is never to soon to register becuase you can always change your registery online,

Re: When did you register?
We did it a year before the wedding but only b/c we had our e-party then.
We went to get a few things last night though and A LOT has been discontinued or no longer available in the store so you will need to update it.
I had to change my towels b/c new colors came out.

Re: When did you register?
We started ours a year before, but that was because I needed to get it out of my system. Maybe a week ago we added more stuff to it. I won't finalize it though until we're in our new house so I know what else we need.

Re: When did you register?
We registered in June, about 9 months before the wedding. Our moms wanted us to register before the engagement party. We added another store in December. If you do it early, just check in with it every now and again. I kept changing my mind on certain things and added other things, etc.

Re: When did you register?
I don't think it's too early, we registered right after getting engaged and people got us gifts from the registry as engagement presents! It's never too soon, in my opinion

Re: When did you register?
I registered in August....so 1 year before my wedding date. I haven't had anything show up as discontinued and I am registered at 3 stores. I actually recommend registering now. I registered in August and it was so great to get it out of the way, as the wedding gets closer there are so many other things you have to worry about. Not to mention, I am a registry stalker so sometimes I see things on other girls registry's that I like more or I didn't even think about and i add it. You can change, add, delete, and update everything online so you don't even really have to go to the store. Although, I definitely recommend going the first time to take a look around and get your registry cards and free gift thingy. It's actually a lot of fun....for me it was anyway! Also, many people who know your getting married and know you are registered will try to get you things when there are big sales. For example, my mom just bought al of our china place settings because of the presidents day sale. She got each place setting for 80 dollars and they are normally 158. So keep that in mind also! Ouuuu one other thing, if you register at Macy's they link your Macy's card to your website and you get 5% back of all purchases guest make for you and 10% of all purchase you make anywhere in the store. So I bought a pair of boots for $100....I got $10 towards my little macys account. When you get married, they give you a gift card for that amount and you get to go shopping with it AND take an additional 10% off. A friend of mine only registered at Macy's and got a gift card for $800 to get whatever she wanted. She was able to get what was left on her registry that was unbought. Sorry this was so long and I rambled....just trying to help! :)

Re: When did you register?
Another thing to keep in mind, it is always good to work off someone else's registry! The first time we registered we got so frustrated because we had no idea what we needed or wanted. I would suggest printing out a friends registry/registries and using that as your guide. Just to see how much to get of everything and give you ideas. Most of the girls on LIW have their registries posted on their website....mine is if you want to get an idea (I registered for a lot though because both of us still live at home...so we needed EVERYTHING). It gives you great ideas. The stores also have 'recommended lists' but they recommend the whole store basically! Don't let it stress you out.....it's a lot of fun! You get to shop for your own gifts basically! :)

Re: When did you register?
I registered at the one year mark more or less. Funny thing is now after my bedding had been discontinued-which I ended up buying myself- I now get the discontinued emails from Fortunoff. They may still have our items in stock, but I am not gonna stress it unless it's my pink kitchenaid items!
