When I was growing up we always decorated the tree on Christmas Eve as the rest of the family was arriving.
We'd have a live tree laid on it's side in the dining room of our apt for like a week ...
Now I can barely wait for the tree to settle in the stand before I try to start.

My family ususally puts it up the first or second weekend in December....
...I am putting up all of my decorations the day after Thanksgiving, isn't that why my office is closed

My dad decorates the house a week or so before Christmas. We have a fake tree and we don't even put it up until Christmas Eve, which is absurd becuase it's not like it will die!! And I spend Christmas eve at work and with FHs family so I don't even get to decorate my tree!
My Fhs family puts there REAL tree up on his name day which is December 12th. I got to pick out the tree last year. I was very excited.

It's a Greek thing. All the saints have a feast day, and FHs is on December 12th. They're supposed to get gifts too, and it's good luck to the pull the persons ear.

We put ours up the weekend before Christmas. I used to do a real one -- but it just got to be a big hassle and I would dread it. Now we have a fakey -- but it's not a terrible fakey and the lights are already on it.()
The tree comes down on Jan. 6 - always.

We are going to New Hampshire the first weekend in December to cut down our tree. As soon as we get back we will put it up and decorate it. The outside of our house we usually do the week of Thanksgiving. I can't wait to decorate!!!

we usually go upstate or out east, cut our own then wait for it to 'settle'. Its usually decorated about the 2nd week of December ! I cant wait! Our tree always comes down Jan. 6th too. Been a tradition in my family forever!

in some countries name day is celebrated even more than your birthday... for example I was born in Poland and my name day was January 21st we dont celebrate it here but it used to be fun
